Do a backup with clockwork mod then if the new theme screws your phone you'll be back up and running within 5.

Last time I did CWM backup on darkys it crashed phone! Is doc rom safe to back on CWM?

Like I said I know how to rescue the phone if it goes wrong , but just CBA with it for the sake of a different theme!

EDIT should have mentioned I'm running the k10 kernel recommended on ram doc rooms thread

My mate has locked himself out of his SGS by forgetting which dots to join up.
He's been told he has got to send it back to Samsung but is there another way?

This happened to me, but there was an option to use my googlemail account to sign in. If that's not there, I suggest he turns it off (pull the battery) and hopefully he hasn't set the same code on start up. From there he may be able to disable the lock somehow?

A factory reset works i believe if he can can get into the 3 button recovery mode.

Normally you'd use your Googlemail account to get in, but I've seen these mentioned before.

Once reset and the phone starts up again it will still show locked. Get another phone to call your phone. as soon as you swipe answer press back key (arrow key) (you gotta be quick) and the main home screen will come up!!! . press the left menu button and select settings and turn off pattern code then go to menu and factory reset the phone again.

Some users reported that entering the password "null" (without the quotes "") worked.

If they don't work and if he can get into recovery then a factory reset should clear it. Or failing that a firmware flash with Odin with clear everything. If he can't get into recovery then and if he left usb debugging mode on he should be able to use the 'adb reboot recovery' command from a PC. Last resort is making a USB jig from a micro usb cable to force the phone into download mode.

Ive been having some really bad problems with my gps since I switched to 2.2.1, My accuracy is always around 500-700 meters and its just really bad now, Before i was getting around down to 20 meters in door and I was really happy not to sure what ive done wrong to the phone now.

Try clearing the GPS data.

"SGS Tools"

Secret Codes > GPS Test and Settings > Delete GPS data

Hold the back button and press the menu button twice (quickly) is the way I find best (although officially its hold back and press the menu key)

i've come to the conclusion that i have a hardware fault

i can charge it all night and then use the phone as normal and then it just dies no battery charge

ive done a system restore also

Battery is probably faulty, try a new one off of Ebay then send the faulty one back to Samsung.

Battery is fully charged & ive also checked via multimeter just under 3 odd v

sometimes taking the battery out and put it in again helps

COmplain to samsung, they'll send you out a new battery for freeeeee!

At least they did with meeeeee!

It's nominally 3.7v, so fully charged off load should be a bit higher still. At 3v it's not getting charged or it won't hold a charge. Probably a faulty battery, but check the battery contacts and maybe the power supply side.
