Samsung Galaxy S2 vs HTC Sensation

i thought the sgs2 allows you to change the EV? or is that not what you mean ?

not what I mean, changing EV is just exposure compensation, not the actual exposure itself.

What I meant was that they should allow you to change the shutter speed itself just like on a normal digital camera. Phones these days are matching point and shoots so why not!

Some interesting comparison vids I watched yesterday if you haven't seen them. First one includes benchmark comparisons.
That Quadrant benchmark app is cool. I just got a score of 3464 on my SGS2.

That reviewer is an idiot, the Sensation has way worse battery live. My workmate has to take his charger everywhere with him as he can't get through the day without needing to plug it in. My device, SGS II, gets approximately two days of use before going flat.

Sounds like your workmate has a dodgy battery. The idle drain of the Sensation is actually equal/better than the Galaxy S II and they both go flat pretty fast if you have the screen on loads - all phones do.

If he's using it a lot with the LCD on high brightness, that would explain it.

Some more pictures then, I don't have any pictures of people Khaaan! but I'll get some when I find a willing model ;) You can probably guess the results of the tones anyway though.

I decided to use the iPhone 4 too so you can measure that up as it's a pretty decent camera. All settings are the same.

I will get some low light ones later on if people are interested, but the Galaxy S II wins that hands down anyway.
HTC have done a magnificent job on the camera for the Sensation considering the pile of poop they dished out previously. Not as great as the other two but it's good enough for a phone and a step in the right direction. Thanks for the comparison shots mate.

I have come to the conclusion that the Sensation is an incredibly pretty phone.

With that said, i'm clumsy, so it would have spent most of its life in a case in my ownership. :(

We both have them on auto brightness and sometimes we're playing games, emailing, browsing and stuff like that so the devices gets hammered. The LCD is probably the major reason why his battery runs down so much faster.

It is very pretty indeed.

Quite probably, it does tend to ramp up to high brightness more often than the Galaxy S II, probably to ensure you can always see the screen clearly in well lit places/outdoors.

I have been impressed with the battery so far, it's certainly not better than the Galaxy S II but it doesn't seem to be far off. Obviously I can't comment too accurately at this stage as it may improve, the Galaxy S II's battery certainly did.

Reckon you could charge them fully and do an overnight battery drain test somehow to see which lasts longest and by how much? :)

How would the camera quality of the SGS2 or any current high MP phone camera, compare to a dedicated camera, like my old dedicated pentax optio S30 3.2MP? I haven't used the camera yet on the SGS2 so haven't had a chance to compare. Those pics posted in this thread look very impressive, so it looks to me like they're from a dedicated camera if I didn't know otherwise.

In fairness, technically You are never going to compare a real camera with a phone camera because the lens is everything ! The minute the light levels drop that little lens will struggle...That said they are still very impressive

I'm already planning on doing that, they're charging at the moment. I will report back my findings.

Just to update this.

I'll disable all kinds of sync on both phones, turn wifi on and have them both connected to the router, set the brightness to 30%, audio off and then leave 2x 3 hour films playing and see where the batteries are after that :)

Should give an idea of the drain.
