Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Honeycomb Tablet

Been using the tab a lot, came across vnc viewer software on the market, result, I now have a htpc in the attic linked up to living room and my bedroom tv, using the tab like a keyboard and mouse. Over WiFi its flawless being able to see my screen, run programs/tv shows

Vnc is on the market for £4.99, completely worth it.

Engadget reporting that 3.2 is on it's way again:

And just like that, the Honeycomb begins to drizzle anew. It took Sammy a few days to sort things out after an available Android 3.2 update broke WiFi, Bluetooth and auto-rotate on some users' 10.1 slates. But now official word from the company has that planned OTA software upgrade aiming for a round two redux, rolling out with a fix in tow for affected tabs. Of course, if you were one of the few besot with crippled connectivity issues, you can download the software via the Kies desktop app and sideload it from there. So, no need to worry. Your happy tablet days are here again.

Just realised that Samsung fixed one of my main gripes with touchwiz in the 3.2 update, the bottom bar now goes fully black with full screen apps instead of having that annoying border :D

Seems crazy that these are still over £370 when their nearest competitor is the happy side of £300 now!

Are talets these days fast enough and have good enough graphics to run PC type games? Or do you still think that would take a few more years?

I just thought if they made them powerful enough to run PC games that would be awesome if you could connect to the tablet with a wireless PS3/XBOX 360 joypad because obviously playing games with a touch screen would suck if you think about games like FPS/racing especially. And nearly everyone these days has a PS3 and XBOX 360 with wireless pads so wouldn't be hard to get the pads working with tablets since all tablets now have wireless technology.

I still havent bought a tablet yet and I still don't know which is the best to get but from what I've read so far it seems like everyone either buys an IPAD 2 or a galaxy 10.1, and out of them two the galaxy looks better to me in terms of spec and what you can do with it.

Part of me feels though that I only want a tablet for the sake of it, when I asked myself the question "what would I use it for", I'm really not sure...lol...I've been thinking I'd like to read digital books and buy all my books on it but maybe thats a stupid idea? because isnt that what kindles are for? And also I guess I could watch series/docs on it and browse the web when travelling to work and on lunch breaks etc.

Am sure as I remember the advert for the kindle it showed you how you would have an online account and download/pay for books and read them all on your kindle and have access to a whole online libary of books, do you still have all these features with a galaxy too, can you read books just as easily with a galaxy?

Also I've been out of the loop on this technology for a while, I've seen tablets with 3G network, does that mean you can put a sim card in your tablet? so its on the internet wherever you're? If so, thats proper cool.:p

So, one question at a time...

Graphics are getting good on pads but nothing near 360/PS3 yet.

I had the same problem before getting a tablet, could not see a use for it aside from a laptop. But after I took the plunge I found out it's a great device to have, it's always ready to go in an instant and there are so many great apps and games that you can pick up in an instant too. I also find it easier to use laid down and in bed etc, very versatile.

Yes, there is a kindle app for android and you download books straight from the app just like the kindle.

And finally yes you can put a sim card in a 3G tablet.

Can anyone tell me why when i manually go to update the tab from the settings about window, it doesnt find a new version?

Im currently running HMJ37 P7500XWKHD.

Cheers

Giving this thread a little bump.

Been using OnLive for a few days now, playing tomb raider and dirt3, have to say I'm impressed.
Is there an official joypad for android devices or a 3rd party on that can be used? Been reading threads were only the dpad is currently supported, I'm not fussed as the on screen keys work fine.
