*** Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Thread (it can fold and everything) ***

Not surprised those who put the pre-orders in are feeling hard done by. I didn't/decided to stick with my s23u for another year or so, but when I do come to get another one it's definitely going to give me a pause for thought!

What is the issue with the pre orders?

Previously (as far as I'm aware) the pre-order price/offer from Samsung has been the best deal out for quite a while so was generally worth going for if you wanted the upgrade. However not a month since release day and a better deal (for most I suspect) has dropped - free projector + upgrade to 1TB and there's loads of 10% off codes floating about too.

and now a chromebook.

I am thinking of selling my fold5 and getting a Pixel 9 fold, just because of the wider cover screen, or shall I wait and see if the Z Fold Special edition comes out soon? decisions.....

With a heavy heart I have just sold my Fold 4.

Didn't have any problems with it, just found the battery life a little lacking and was worried about it's long term durability.

Got a S22 Ultra to replace it, being my goto device type (had loads of Galaxy Notes and Ultras).

Funnily enough I just did the opposite - went from a S22 Ultra which started bootlooping possibly due to storage constraints, to a Fold 5. Really happy so far, particularly with the obvious dual screens. Fold 6 wasn't worth it for the barely incremental improvements over the 5 in my opinion.

Yep you.are.right, yesterday I preordered the pixel 9 pro fold, meant to be coming today so fingers crossed it's good!

From spending time with the Fold 5 I actually think that the form factor of the Pixel 9 Pro might be more suitable, as I would use the front screen probably about 60% of the time and it's skinny enough for a fair few spelling mistakes to creep in. It was out of my price range but I wouldnt mind having a more extended play with one.

Chrome Book Go and Galaxy Tab S9 FE, that's about £800 worth of freebies.

That's a crazy deal on the Z Fold6 given launch date.

Lots of competition though now and it's big money.

Want real productivity then you can get an iPad pro + MK or highspec ultra portable laptop.

An S23/24 Ultra does the uncompromised large phone screen realestate with note/productivity + excellent Ai.

If the foldable phone format works then the Honor Magic v3 is better hardware (definitely not software having tried both now) or Google Pro Fold as a better all rounder.

I still prefer the Z Fold6 out of the main three above available at easy uk retail but it's very subjective.

Well for some reason Samsung have decided to give me 50 quid in points, maybe they feeling guilty after I got nothing from them when I pre-ordered the Fold 6. :/
I know for next time not to pre-order anything from Samsung again unless they give a spectacular pre order incentive.

Anyways the Fold 6 might be my last Fold i get from them if rumours are true & they move both the Flip & Fold over to Exynos, this might be because of poor sales & cost saving.

I'm enjoying my Fold 5 after a year of owning. Only issue for me is the narrowness of the front screen and my sausage fingers when texting :-)
Almost every time someone new see's it, they are wow, that's great and they are pulled in by the screen when it's opened.

Is it though? Is it actually that much as I know when these things get bundled in they use the RRP even if something is X years old.
It comes in under £700 when I add the 10% off (no one should be paying full price on Samsung) not including the 'any' tablet trade-in for £50.
