Samsung Green Ram

Well as far as i can see and as far as i know there's nothing i can do to get 1T stable. I guess my 2700k IMC just isn't having it. Its a shame as i think the memory has more in it. Final settings and seemingly stable. (though need to complete a long stability test yet)

16Gb 2133mhz - 9-10-10-21-2T @1.5v

I need to decide now if i want to keep the 16gb and operate at 2T or sell 8gb so i can run at 1T.

when it comes to memory clocking on sb/ib whats better hz or timings and is there a run off? for example anything over 2133 start looking at timings rather than speed etc

Its both timings and speed to be honest. Highest speed with tightest timings an test for efficiency in your tasks.

Wghich Dominators do you have and we can suggest. 4 x 8gb is harder to clock than 2 x 4gb but is certainly possible.

I have not tried those sticks to be honest. But 2 x 8gb sticks or 4 x gb sticks that default at Cas 10 1600mhz do not normally clock well. Infact most Corsair with default frequencys of 1600mhz these days do not clock well.

You can try by all means but I just doubt they will be stable much above stock.

Is it worthwhile swapping them out with something different some greens maybe? Or is it unlikely to really effect performance and other over clocks?

this is why i wont buy samsung green and was asking for advice on 2133-2400 sticks in my other thread on here which 8pack hasnt got around to replying to yet.

I cant find anything 2x8GB that is not too expensive.Need 1T and not gonna happen with all the banks filled lads i dont think.

Have you lads considered kingstons hyper x beast 2400mhz? XMP profile 1 is obviously 2400mhz 2T which probably wont work on mine or yours but the XMP profile 2 is 2133mhz which i think with 1.6V might just work with 1T and timings trimmed which is what i wanted anyways.

Opinions?

I just ran some tests 1T vs 2T. I was expecting a large difference but i guess i was mistaken. 3DMARK ADVANCED my Physics only score improved by two measly points. Latency went down 0.01 ns in Aida64. Think ill just keep 16gb and stick to 2T.

How much difference does Cycle Time Cras make to performance? I've managed to knock it down from 9-10-10-21-2T to 20. without any change in voltage or stability. Wondering if its worth to keep lowering it.

Dpnt go below 21 with these sticks it effects long term stability. I have been tuning a really good 2450mhz profile with these DIMMS which I will post up soon along with some other memory clocking tips. Cas 9 at 2450 1T not bad!!!!!

not bad lol... I would murder for cas9 2400+

My new kingston predator kit seem to work fine though at auto default voltages and just set 2133mhz xmp profile1 and its using 1.6v and 11-12-11-30-1T.

I might push it to 2200 now lol.3D mark11 really likes this and my scores are not far off at 4ghz where they were at 4600.I think im gonna break the 10k physics barrier perhaps :D Not bad for a 4C4T CPU without hyperthreading cheating ;)

3D 11 loves Bandwidth on Physics test. I run PSC DIMMS on X79 at 2510 8-12-8-28 1T for a 60+ pysics score with CPU at 5.675ghz.

I think many would benefit from an "8 Pack Memory Thread"

Detailing:
The basics of memory types
Memory Ratios
Timings VS Frequency
What timings are what and how they differ from one type of memory to another
Where to start when overclocking
Safe voltages
Some benchmarks to prove memory overclocking helps.

etc etc
