Samsung LS34E790C - Curved 34" 21:9 super-wide

booner, go back in this thread and find globel infernos icc profile, this sorted my colour out nicely, then use the nvidia/amd control panel and adjust brightness to suit, used this method myself and it looks stunning

I don't like nvidia panel every time boot or restart PC settings adjust automatically frustrating

Cheers for the colour profiles, all set up now. Deep colours. Very impressed with this monitor. It's surreal, really surreal to have so much screen space without a break down the middle.

I've installed a couple of plugin/extentions for chrome for ultra wide viewing on netflix and youtube. I'm going to try gaming now. Dying light worked a treat earlier. I dropped the shadows and view distance down and it runs fine on high settings on a 290

Anyone on the fence, buy.

I hope to god this thing has no issuses lol. Its my 5th ultrawide screen since july last year.
Going to calibrate it properly too with my i1 pro so hopefully colours should match up to the LG.
By the way id be wary of using other peoples colour profiles. All screens are different and they could be way off on your screen.

have no fear mate, once set up right you will love it

anyone got any idea why this monitor don't like to come out of standby mode unless you use the menu button to power up.

i have two monitors on my system, the trusty old dell 2407 HC and the samsung, if i leave my pc on overnight the pc will shut the monitors down on moving the mouse the dell fires up but i have to push the osd button to power this bad boy up.

its ok if i leave it say for 1hr and return they both come on... its like for 4hrs plus

Check you have the 'Off Timer' is set to 'Off' as I think by default it is 'On' and set to 4 hours so if you leave your PC on overnight the monitor will power off and not go into standby, which is what you want. Make the change and all will be well.
See page 67 in the manual for details.
Cheers

ive set that now thanks very much... manual :-) haha not read one of them in 41years

As someone has already pointed out; each monitor is different. My ICC profile is right for my monitor and perhaps *some* of yours, but certainly not all. See if you can borrow a calibrator from a friend ;)

So true!
Also keep in mind that if you use a profile from someone else the brightness setting may be way off on your monitor. For example, if the calibration is done in a brightly lit room (daytime, sun in room) it will adjust the bightness accordingly but if you then use the ICC on your monitor in a dimly lit or dark room your screen will be way too bright.

Well I got mine 2 hours ago. Its all setup and I just finished calibrating it using my i1 display pro.

Default settings were pretty bad lol I had a red tint to everything and when I checked it with my calibration the colour temp was at 5600 or something.

Just finished calibrating it to 6498k and 120 lum.

My brightness even at 50 was giving me about 200lum which is too much for me and the red was way out with the default RGB settings.

These are my calibrated settings for 6498K and 120lum and 1809 contrast ratio.
For any of you guys who have a red tint this may help as I had that and its perfect now.

Brightness = 20
Contrast = 85
Gamma = Mode 3
Color Tone = Custom
Red = 46
Green = 35
Blue = 45

These are the actual monitor settings...you can try them and see if it improves things. The default settings where way off on mine.

Thanks for the settings. Still tweaking and testing mine. Will post up my thoughts later tonight.

How are you finding it compared to your old LG ultrawide so far?

Theres no backlight bleed which is a huge plus for me. Sent 3 of my LG back because of that so im very happy with that.
Haven't been able to do any gaming yet so haven't test for ghosting properly but browsing webpages and fiddling around on the desktop is very smooth.
Colours wern't amazing out of the box but now that iv calibrated it looks stunning. Ill do another calibration later since its always best to run in your monitor for a while first as it will keep shifting until it settles properly.

It looks better than the LG from an appearance point of view and the curve head on isn't really noticable but it just seems to feel better.

The only negative so far for me is the contrast shift when you move to the side which is because of it being a VA panel and on a ultrawide screen like this its probably more noticible.

A few pictures....

I could share my profile but it will be different on each monitor so it might not be any good for you... The settings I posted below are all altered on the monitor and the finished profile is hardly any difference from those so I would just try those first and see how it looks for you.
