Samsung LS34E790C - Curved 34" 21:9 super-wide

Hi, What sort of fps (and associated settings) are people getting with a single card on this (or any other similar) monitor? I have 290s in crossfire but would quite like to down size to just one (bit on the noisy side when kicks it up for gaming at 4k).

a single 290 is pretty good, i just knock aa settings down untill it still looks good

I have a 2014 MacBook Air and was wondering if anyone has used one on this monitor at native resolution at 60Hz. I'm pretty sure it'll work, but I've read enough people saying they could only get the LG one running at 50Hz to make me want to be 100% sure before I spend so much money.

Bought this screen just over a week ago but sadly had to return it faulty due to really bad backlight bleed. Colours were not that great either (even after playing with the settings), but that could have been due to the backlight bleed.

Had a pretty bad ghosting issue too, although my response time was set to standard.

Would have otherwise been a cracking monitor (on the outside it looks fantastic) but decided to go for something else instead. Really not confident with Samsung's QC for such an expensive monitor.

hoping yours was just faulty..i thought there was no bleed on these VA panels and I keep getting told theres no ghosting at all on standard.

Need more impressions from people who have just got them. Mine is coming tomorrow and im suddenly less excited lol.

anyone got any idea why this monitor don't like to come out of standby mode unless you use the menu button to power up.

i have two monitors on my system, the trusty old dell 2407 HC and the samsung, if i leave my pc on overnight the pc will shut the monitors down on moving the mouse the dell fires up but i have to push the osd button to power this bad boy up.

its ok if i leave it say for 1hr and return they both come on... its like for 4hrs plus

First impressions (1 hour in from a monitor noobie)

I'm using displayport for PC, HDMI 1 for Xboxone and HMDI 2 for my work laptop.

Pro's
No dead pixels
No backlight bleed
No ghosting
Stand is straight (not leaning)
It's BIG, so much useful space to use - massive plus for multitasking (I work with 2 x 24inch at work butted up and I hate the bezel down the middle
The curve is really natural when sat in front of it, but very obvious when looking at it from side profile - I really like it
Spreadsheets, video editing and emails give you so much space to play with now, very productive
My flickering has gone!!!!! So it appears it wasn't my 290, but the DVI port. So happy!

Niggles
I need to buy a bluray player for my pc now as my Xboxone seems limited to black bars, but works okay on first try
USB ports are fairly flimsy and I've yet to fit my iPhone cable charger in there as I don't want to force it. Wifi adapter went in okay.
Would have liked a slightly quicker button to flick between sources, but I'm sure I'll get used to it.

I need to play with colours and settings, anybody got theirs to hand? I haven't got a calibrator.

booner, go back in this thread and find globel infernos icc profile, this sorted my colour out nicely, then use the nvidia/amd control panel and adjust brightness to suit, used this method myself and it looks stunning

How much space is there between the screen and desk with the stand on the lowest setting?

I'd like to know if I need to order a monitor mount, as I need it to go as low as possible.

Cheers,
Dutchie
