Samsung LS34E790C - Curved 34" 21:9 super-wide

argh which to pick lol. The dell pre order offer is crazy so cheap....the Philips 40 inch 4k very cheap too for what you get and then theres the Samsung which is the most expensive of the three...I do a lot of photography so colour reproduction has to be really good for me and the LG model I had was perfect for that especially once calibrated. Very hard to choose.

Yeah, that Dell pre-order deal is a cracking price. I'd probably have been tempted to take a punt on the U3415W if I'd seen it that cheap and it actually appears in stock!

Still, my Samsung is being delivered tomorrow so will post my thoughts tomorrow evening after setting it up!

I will never buy a dell ever again, I had 2 and they both had horrifific back light bleed.

That was the thing that kind of put me off the Dell in favour of the Samsung. It's thread is rapidly mirroring the comments regarding similar bleed issues on the LG models. From the comments here and elsewhere people seem to be generally happier with the Samsung overall. I don't know if it's really as big a deal as some are making out but some people are obviously pretty unhappy with their Dell ultrawide monitors.

@eggcup
How did you find the Dell compared to the Samsung other than bleed. Would be interesting to hear your thoughts as someone who's used both as several others posting here are obviously trying to decide between them....!

Seems like a lot of us are in the same situation with these ultra wide monitors. With the deal on the dell it doesn't make it a little harder to choose. If there was an IPS with no bleed then id go for that in a heartbeat but at the moment that's not likely to happen.

From what im seeing IPS = bleed and glow VA = ghosting(maybe) and not as good colours. The screen on the LG was Matte right? as it was beautiful.

Yes only design I don't like Samsung glossy out of box scratched regard colours I don't see any difference but black is much better.

Sorry I guess i should have been more specific , i didn't have 2 ultra wide dells, i had 2 dells years ago lol, which put me off for life.

For the love of god, there is no ghosting! LOL! you get overshoot if you set the pixel response to anything other than standard in my experience.

Thats why I put a maybe in brackets next to it. As much as I want to believe that too many have said they have seen it for it to be none existant and theres no professional reviews anywhere that I can find that say otherwise.
I would love there not to be any and there might not be...but I can't spend over £700 on a monitor without knowing for sure.

ive had no ghosting but your right, you should not drop over £700 on a monitor your not 100% sure about, im sure some reviews will show up soon

You shouldn't drop £700 on ANYTHING you're not sure about lol! I find it quite disturbing that people are paying this for the LG models, seeing bleed and going "it's not that bad, I'll live with it". I swear sometimes technology is going backwards, and we shouldn't be OK with that!

You want spend £100 and be sure 100%? Why is cost 700 because very nice piece of technology lol

yeah after sending 4 lg ones back I really don't want the hassle of returning another lol so want to be sure this time. At the moment for me personally its between this and the Philips 4k but that most likely is too big and theres not really any other choices apart from the BLB ridden IPS ones.

i had the philips on pre order but changed my mind as i thought it was just too big, but so far no regrets on the sammy apart from i jumped on to soon and payed more than todays price

Just ordered the Sammy.

Quick question for those who have one. How low can you put the monitor with the provided stand? I need it to go as low and close to the desk as possible due to the fact I need to put it on top of my 4u desktop racks.

Gah! I hate you guys. I just ordered the Samsung lol. Was going to go for the 4k phillips because its cheaper but its just too big so it looks like the Samsung it is. Looking forward to see how it looks once I whip out my i1 display pro and calibrate this beast :D.

Hey Guys,

Do any of you guys use 3ds max or something similar, does the curve cause any visual anomalies that make it worse to work with, for example.

Looks like this is the best if the super wide screens, and I couldn't have any of the others due to the insane levels of backlight glow.
