Samsung LS34E790C - Curved 34" 21:9 super-wide

Any one else running this monitor along with a couple of others? I have this, A dell 2407 and Dell 2410 on SLI GTX980. Everytime I resume from power save I have to rearrange my windows etc at they have moved around.

Its starting to get annoying, Anyone have a fix?

Yeah, it's also annoying me and I'm just using a single display. I think it's a side effect of using displayport.

IIRC someone on here posted a registry fix that should resolve the issue earlier on this thread. Need to hunt it down and test it when I get a chance.

Matson would be f'ing fabulous if I could get the x-rite software to run, it just crashes on "interface loading" - the annoying thing is it ran once and i'm not happy with the profile (too dark) and now i'm bloody stuck with it as tech support's response is "re-install windows".

*update* I got so annoyed at that that I did actually reinstall windows and the whole thing works now

Matson - however the luminance of 120 was far too low (i'm in a room with windows on all four sides) - even 200 seems a bit washed out basically can I save two profiles one for day and one for night ? in the colour management window it doesn't let me select any custom named icm profiles....

My Samsung is picked up today for repair as it was making a weird high pitched noise when I was on http://www.tigerstyle.co.uk/phpBB3/ forum and when the monitor was put to sleep with the LED flashing.

Ordered the Dell U3415W (A01rev) which came today and first impressions are good the colours seem better out of the box compared to the Samsung which I was using the Samsung Wide profile in on my Mac min 2012, although may need a tiny tweak, also no dodgy noises.
There is a tiny hint of bleed at the top left but nothing like I have seen in the locked Dell thread!
Also the stand is a million times better than the Samsung one.

Just wondering does the Samsung monitor curve more than then Dell one? Cant find any info

The curve is slightly stronger on the Samsung, but not enough for you to notice a difference in practice. You can see images of both from a similar top-down view on my reviews of both models.

You can delete the profile you made under the colour management box in Windows... Make sure you delete it under device and also under the tab that says all profiles. That gets rid of it completely.

If you installed the Driver that came with the monitor there should be a default driver in there too.
Plus everytime you make calibration profile with that software it saves the old profile too so you can easily switch back.
It will be under the colour management again and it will same Samsung before.

Iv had no issued at all with the software crashing...hasn't done it once. I just installed it from the CD...did the update and it worked ever since. Did you set the brightness manually when doing the calibration? its best to do that.

I have just one window to the right of me but 120 lum is perfect for me. It does look dim when you first use it but you have to give your eyes time to adapt to it. If you have windows all around you though then your proabably better with something like 200lum.

I think this was the thread. Just trying it out at the moment. I'm still noticing issues with the windows size not being retained when using Windows 7/8 snap to side of screen to resize functionality though. Seems to only retain it if you manually resize a window.

I'm wondering if part of my issue might of been that I was originally using a 1920x1080p monitor and some of those resolution settings have carried across?

Quick question for you all,

I'm getting close to pulling the trigger on one of these. I play mainly BF4 so wondering how well my 980 will cope with running it's 3440x1440 resolution.

Currently it's smooth as silk (ultra settings 2xAA) running on my 27" 1440p monitor. Would be great if my card can handle the S34E790C as well. My gut is telling me that I should get away with it if I keep BF4 at my present settings, obviously not expecting fps to to quite as high, but very playable still.

Any thoughts?

a 980 will be fine, my 290 handles lt nicely

i know what you mean, i think a tx would be perfect for this res but oh the price, my peoblem is the monitor skint me out but hopefully when i look to upgrade the gpu there will be more options

To be fair money is not the problem for me. I could buy TX if I want but at 1k a card (with waterblock) it just does not seem good value for what your getting. Who knows I might change my mind. I think one TX would be great for this monitor.

I'm happy to use the 980 at the moment which is running 1550/2000 all day long. So I've got a fair bit of grunt already and gives me the time to see what else is coming out over the next few months or so.

You cant improve uniformity..you can see the colour temp in the center is pretty much perfect on that pic... theres always going to be drop off on the sides.

Im confused though your using my profile but you were able to check the uniformity which must mean you have a calibrator?
