Because of the difference in methology now, I'm not sure what to make of the U34's value? I'm presuming the first just takes into account pure input lag, the second just adss response time to make it cleaner? So basically, the U34 has slightly less lag than the U27 if I'm right in how I look at this?

Edit: Nope, U27 value includes signal processing time too, so my current monitor has the lesser input lag. Bit of a bummer there.

Edit: Decided to look up the UM95 now, since I heard before it had less lag: jEhG2kH.png

Input lag and more importantly signal delay is similar on both. If you are fine with that aspect of U2713HM then you will most likely be fine with that aspect of the U3415W.

Right. I think I know what's causing my 'red tint'. It's simply a deviation in colour temperature across the screen, which is most noticeable on white backgrounds.

From pcmonitors.Info:

'The consistency of colour temperature (white point) was also analysed, as shown in the contour map below. Here deviations between each quadrant and the point on the screen closest to the 6500K (D65) daylight white point target are assigned DeltaE values. A DeltaE above 3 is considered deviation that can be noticed fairly readily by eye, particularly if observing white content. Darker shades on this contour map represent greater deviation from the 6500K target than lighter colours.'

I think I'll return this. I'm really not fussy - I don't mind some backlight bleed and I'm no where near as meticulous as others when it comes to calibrating, but this is something I will immediately notice in everyday use since the deviation is in the centre of the screen. :(

I don't want to discourage you but the red tint is most likely a defect and some of these Samsung monitors have it. My first one had it very bad and it was so noticible that in borderlands the snow on the sides of the screen was red and the snow in the middle it was white. My second and third screen have no sign of a red tint at all and the whole monitor is uniform on a pure white screen. The sides lose some contrast yes but theres no redness and its white all the way across. I would return it for a replacement personally which is what I did with my first one and I now have a pretty much perfect screen that looks beautiful all the way across. Your right in that there is some deviation with the colour temp across the screen but a replacement could be much much better.

Calibrating by eye is never going to be very accurate and using other peoples settings probably isn't either. You can do contrast and brightness and gamma yourself but regarding RGB colours I wouldn't even bother personally doing them by eye.
My i1 pro pretty much turned this monitor from good to looking amazing.

Just to let you know that my monitor is completely white without tint from left to right. There are good samples out there and it's not an inherent feature of this panel. Mind you, I've got my brightness at 56 whereas others use 20 -45 tops - dunno where I'm going with this.

Edit: this brightness isn't over the top by any means - just 'normal' as far as I'm concerned. Also, note the noticeable jump in luminance at 57.

BTW - good Chrome extension for youtube - borderless screen playback, and it looks slick too. If you 'throw' the video player at the sides in Windows 8, you get this:

I'd love to be able to do this with browser windows and explorer windows. This format is so good.

One thing I don't like with the Samsung is the multiwindow software that came with it. I couldn't figure out how to use it at first and then it was just a pain lol. Why couldn't it be like the LG software where you just drag your internet page to box you want and it just clicks automatically into place. Is there any you can download that's just like the LG one? I use side by side internet pages a lot and being able to just quickly drag them into place is so much better.

Just purchased the x-rite i1 display pro as we'll, so they should arrive at the same time. Managed to find it for £155 so I'll be keeping it for future use for sure, don't know why I Havant purchased one before considering I bought the lg 34" for £900 before I returned it, if I'm going to spend that much on one item then I want to improve it to perfection as we'll, can't wait !

Thanks folks, have asked for a refund.

Loving this screen. The motion does feel better than the LG I had which I can notice even when scrolling through web pages aswell as in racing games and fps.
At the moment im stuggling to think of why I would even need a 144hz screen like the upcoming acer as new games struggle to hit 60fps maxed out at this res so theres no chance to get it anywhere close to that and I honestly haven't felt any loss in going back to 60hz. Plus you can always overclock this screen to 75hz.
It actually is 75hz at lower resolutions without having to overclock anything.

Colours once calibrated properly are looking as good as the LG ips screen with deeper blacks which look amazing in dark games.
One thing that I really like about this screen that's a small thing is the fact I can height adjust the stand quite a lot. I have it at the highest it will go and its perfectly at my eye height which is great compared to the LG that didn't move at all apart from tilt.

Anyone gone from this to the Dell 34er?

Can anyone check their screen in standby to see if they can hear a noise when the LED is flashing?

I've put in a service request see if it needs looking at

Matson, where are the OC details for this?

I'm getting constant 100fps in most titles (dual OC 980s) so would be interested.

Moniter is fantastic, waiting for my X-Rite i1 before I start fiddling about with settings, but the out the box brightness settings were so high my retinas melted..

You can just use something like CRU (custom resolution utility) which lets you add custom resolutions and overclock the monitor higher than 60hz. Yeah the out of the box settings where so high lol. Mine brightness is at 21 now. For people who arnt used to that it looks dim at first but as soon as your eyes adjust it looks great and the colours look much better. Not to mention blacks will be deeper. Im running 2 x 290 which are overclocked and a lot of the new games arnt hitting 60fps maxed out but then again a lot of the new games don't have good working crossfire profiles for me so that isn't helping lol.
