Samsung LS34E790C - Curved 34" 21:9 super-wide

Nice that you seem to have got a good one. You could probably dial out that red tint a lot with a calibration.

Thanks Matson :)

Really happy so far, need a gpu to test out the refresh rates this screen can handle. Currently using Intel IGP and CRU doesn't seem to work with it.

There is the slightest amount of backlight bleed on the right hand side but barely noticeable.

Calibrating is proving to be much more difficult than I anticipated. Contrast ratio is always around the 2000-2150:1 level. Cannot seem to get the RGB line graph to align as well as yours Matson but I will keep trying!

So much more workspace moving from 2560x1080 to this, really didn't expect this much improvement.

Hows the gaming performance? Just recently tried 2560x1440 on my 780 lightning and was surprised on the performance i got from it but of course this is 34ish% more pixels than that. Im hoping i can afford it myself next month.

I can say gaming is incredibly smooth, no complaints there at all.

I'm quite sensitive to lag, but can't notice any with this.

BF4 is amazing I have to say, it really shines on this panel. Definitely gives the wow factor and the more immersive experience.

I'm looking forward to project cars which should be coming out pretty soon, that again I reckon will be amazing too!

The more I am using this panel the more I am liking it by the day. For me the curve was the thing took some getting used to (all my screens have been flat) but after a while of using it now I appreciate it being there, its definitely easier on the eye which is what's it's meant for. Plus it gives it that modern aesthetic edge as she is a pretty bit of kit.

:)

My sig needs updating! Sold my R9 290X a few weeks ago, very good card but the stock cooler was too noisy and would ramp up when watching films via MPC with madVR on.

Currently using Intel IGP which means no gaming, sadly. I have to say though, this VA panel is very different to the one that is used in the Acer 32". Only had that screen briefly (the flickering was ridiculous), but the ghosting and banding was clearly evident. Not with this Samsung though, this VA panel is incredibly responsive and no banding.

Gaming performance depends on the user, I'm quite happy to play games as long as the framerate average is above 30, but others will prefer far higher. I used to have a gtx670 and a Dell 2560x1440 and I had no problems. Yes I did have to dial down on AA and tessellation but it coped fine. Personally I'm waiting for AMD to release their new cards but they aren't half taking their time.

I'll say it again by the way, the curve is fantastic :)

Sounds awwsome, confirms what i have been reading in reviews and what ive seen from peeps on the tube.. I think this might be the screen for me then.

yeah its a very quick monitor. Set it to standard and its as smooth as butter and I don't notice any ghosting while gaming. Feels smoother than the LG I had and the picture is beautiful. The only downside is you need much more GPU power but its worth it.

i have thought about getting another 780 but if i want a new one i still have to give 300 pounds for it and its not worth that anymore. Sad that previous gen cards dont go down in price that much. I guess nVidia dont want them to steal sales from their newest gen.

My plans for now is this monitor next month and then hopefully a new R9 390 or 390x 2-3 months after that. Unless it turns out to be not that impressive of a card, which i doubt really.

UHH! now that i remember, has anyone been able to Overclock this monitor? My current AOC can be overclocked from 60hz to 72hz and it actually helps more than one may think with the responsiveness in games like BF.

Just received one of these yesterday. Looks like I avoided the dead pixel issue, as first impressions are very good.

I'm not using it professionally, it will mainly be for gaming. I decided that screen real-estate plus deep blacks (main game is Elite Dangerous) trumped 120hz and freesync: think I made the right decision. Tried BF4 and haven't noticed any ghosting either.

Would recommend!

Happy you got a good one :)

have there been any more reviews on this? not that it matters as its an amazing screen but I do like reading them and there seems to be none apart from PCM's review lol.

You can't overclock any of the 3440 x 1440 models that I've used without frame skipping. But yeah, don't let that put you off an otherwise excellent monitor. :)

It certainly wont. If...well might as well say when im getting it im going to try and most likely find out what you are already saying. But even at 60hz as long as the blur isnt to bad and the input lag is below 20ms i think ill have a blast. Ty btw for all the info and the review on your site.

Would also love to hear more about people experiences with this monitor.

well ive already said it before but i have no issues with ghosting, input lag or response times, i play quite a bit of cs go and if anything the sammie is much better than my old dgm 27" 1400p

Pretty happy with mine. If you want a 34" 3440x1440 monitor it's between the Samsung and Dell U3415W IMO.

Experience-wise I'm impressed. It's a big step up from the previous 24" 1080p monitor I had and has made for an effective replacement for my old dual monitor setup. Games look stunning on a 34" ultrawide as well. Really gives you a large wide field of vision and adds to the immersion. Good colours, motion, no glow/bleed and deep blacks.

In terms of the curve it really isn't very noticeable when you're looking straight at the monitor. If anything I'd say it's more cosmetic than anything TBH.

My only real gripe about it is the price. I'm not really convinced it (or any monitor really) is actually 'worth' £700 but it's pretty awesome nevertheless and there isn't anything else out there I'd rather have personally.

VA panels dont have any glow to them like IPS? my current 29" IPS have a bit of glow in the lower left corner and it is a little annoying from time to time but ive learned to live with it. The VA panel having none of that would be a huge reason for me to pick the samsung over the dell.

No glow at all on mine. That's one of the perks of VA not to mention the much richer black levels.

Wise of Samsung going VA with these panels. It's much better than the LG.

;)

VA panels don't suffer from glow but that doesn't mean they don't have their own issues and that those aren't equally.... cheesy. I guess the name is "VA cones", plus all the other minor tradeoff you have to accept going VA instead of IPS.

If you like the curved ones, it's hard to decide if this one or the dell.
