Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 (G95NC) 57" Uber-Wide

lots of really good detail for me to think about, thanks for taking the time to reply.
I saw a refurbished one for £1900 and was tempted but I would want a easier do it all experience for that sort money.
instead, I could get a 49" ultrawide for productivity and 3x27" for a triple screen sim racing. hmmmm

There are quite a few pro's and cons to triples over one big screen.

Don't want to go off topic but yes - physical space, additional cabling, accurate monitor mounting, bezels and game support?!

How are people getting on their screen?

I'm looking to get one for a sim rig which I will build in the new year for flying and driving.

I love mine to be honest, mostly for productivity work (coding). I don't think I could go back to 16:9 monitor. I do however wish it was OLED, little wider and little taller for gaming anyway. The matt coating does not bother me too much but I will say compared to my oled tv it just makes thing seem less sharp and colour pop less, but in reality reading text is razor sharp with its high ppi and its a real joy reading on this thing and the extra space for coding is great. Reading text on OLED screen can make my eyes sore faster than matt LCD screens for some reason. The colour and picture quality on OLED is considerably better. I actually prefer LCD screen for coding, reading and productivity work and OLED for gaming.

I though that I would be turning head constantly trying to read the edges but in reality its not and making it OLED would also help so much with viewing angles. The picture can become little distorter if not siting within certain distance, specially at the edges and that to do with LCD viewing angles in general. But honestly its never an issue as I am always sitting at the right distance.

For gaming, some games look and play amazing like Doom 2016, Ori , witcher3 ect. I was surprised that so many games support this resolution. Where the games does not there is usually a mod out there that does. You also need something fast to push so many pixel. Its more immersive than 16:9 monitor that's for sure but I would say I still prefer gaming on larger tv as its more immersive for some games and for other games like Doom 2016 prefer the monitor. If Samsung releases the OLED and little larger that would be end game monitor for many.

To summarise its been a real joy for me and absolutely love it, just need RTX 5090 to pair with it now. One of the reason I never went ultrawide was the 49" is too narrow in vertical height, the 57" while still not ideal is much better for me.

Fantastic thank you,

Planing on build a new system next year so looking forward to getting one. I have seen Acer are now doing a 57'' screen also :

Similar spec's

your welcome :)

hopefully by the time you buy Samsung might of released a OLED version. I think there is also an Chinese company that is releasing their own version too but for Asia or local sale only. Even without Oled its still a great monitor so don't worry too much. I don't think its long before ASUS, GIGABYTE and Dell jump on.

One thing I forgot to mention is that you might want to mount this onto some kind of arm as the stand, for me anyway being it does not go high enough. I am currently looking into a monitor arm for it, there are a few about but they mount mostly to table and my table is glass not wood. The only arm that I find that can support the weight is Ergotron HX with the heavy duty pivot. The arm attaches to the wall and can take the weight but the pivot cant take the weight and the monitor slowly droops. When I contacted Ergotron they told me they are working on a solution but not sure when or if they will release it as another pivot mount or another whole arm. The workaround is just to jam the pivot with something metal (some I have seen use spanners) and it works good. Its not perfect but at least its an option. If you can mount to table import a arm from stateside they are much cheaper and work good.

let us know how you get on when you do purchase it.

I have had 32, 42, 48 & 55" oleds on my desk.

42" was the biggest I can tolerate, however, even that felt too tall! And thats after sitting 3-4 feet back!

Plus, I did not like having to deal with all the oled preventative maintenance stuff.
Perhaps if LG released a 4k240hz version with 1000+ nits I'd be tempted to try BIGGEM again.

As is this 57" may be my most favorite display of all time...its really quite a gaming experience IMHO

Looks Fantastic,

Do you have Euro Truck simulator 2? If so could you post a pic on the interior view please?

Got mine today, upgrading from non NEO 49" (1440p) model, so I get quite a bit of upgrade in picture quality, zones and of course size as well as resolution.

Firstly, gees man, it REALLY does make the 49" model look and feel small and the extra height is welcomed.
Do not think we can go much bigger with 1000R for even more additional height as then it would just be too wide for most desk/sim rig installations.

Right away I noticed the extra sharpness and resolution. Having the 140 PPI at this size, does indeed make text and lines super sharp.

Using (Win11) 7900XTX with (Python Premium 2m) cable for me the monitor arrived with 1004.1
Automatically detected native res and all I had to do was set to 240Hz.

Just upgraded the monitor to 1005.3 and confirmed that I have no dead/stuck pixels
Now looking around for picture quality settings.

The monitor is similar width to the motorised desks from MAIDeSITe 140x70x25 table top.

For 21:9 usage, something I think is not promoted enough. Keep in mind with this display we get better than the 38" LG monitor
Increased resolution, increased PPI, slight increase in size and the benefits of the panels 240Hz as well as improved brightness and HDR.

Yes a 45" 21:9 model has increased height but currently are less superior in many other regards too.
For 2024 it seems odd that we do not have a DP 2.1 45" size 21:9 monitor but supporting 5K x 2K with 240Hz
At least with that you could get to enjoy properly 4K content but is not possible with current 1440p based panels and much lower PPI.

OLED has its benefits sure, but I think at the moment, the G9 57" for many users brings more advantages for various usage and is an overall better product.

I have ordered the Tobii Eyetracker 5 to help further enjoy sims and games.
What sim games hard to played using the monitor? I know MSFS will be amazing and racing game. Wounder what Euro truck sim 2 would be like.

Hi, All those people that have had this and used this for a while - whats your verdict ? any regrets ?
I wrote my verdicts just a few posts up from this one, my views has not changed much thb honest so not worth typing everything up again. But to summarise, love mine, wish it was Oled and tiny bit bigger but still amazing monitor. I love playing horizon zero dawn in widescreen and having three programs open at once side by side. Text is razor sharp and joy to read. If Samsung make this Oled they have a end game monitor on their hand that would sell very well, specially if they make it a tiny bit larger.

Cheers - just been catching up with some youtuber take on it after a while. Similar to yours - OLED would have been a game changer. Now that we can get 32 4k 240hz oled for 780ish on sale. For me its more cost effective to buy 2 of those if i needed the screen estate ( I don;t )

I've had mine for a week and could have it a couple inches taller easily. I actually thought it was a little short on height straight away. I love the width and the pixel density is great. It really is amazing for work productivity. I don't think I'd ever want a wider monitor.

Just need to put some money aside for the next gen graphics cards so I can run it how it was meant to be used.

I've had this monitor for over three weeks now and do love it, I also just got a monitor arm from Bewiser which I'm looking forward to try and install lol,

How are people finding the heat off this monster as to be honest I'm just going to leave this on in the winter to heat the house up.

One gripe is I've still not figured out how to get the core sync to work at mirroring the screen as it's greyed out under dp and hdmi

are you in a very small room? because mine does not produce any heat at all, then again I have it in eco mode with brightness at 10 also have back light control on or dimming zone control. Mine is barely warm to touch.
