Samsung sneaks out snazzy 3G iPhone rival... the Omnia.

Well it is meant to be a main competitor to it so you would expect it to look similar and share a lot of the same features etc.

Well, no, this bugs me about so many phones out today...

You can be a competitor without having a product which looks identical, I mean seriously, do they have no imagination or creativity of their own that they're reduced to releasing devices which look like clones of the iphone?

No touch screen though. :(

Just what I was thinking... quite sad really. And thats without getting into the iPhones lack of features that are now standard on most phones. Fanboyism I guess.

I wasn't going to reply to this thread, but I'd like you to read this article please. (Also this one on development)

Yes, the iPhone has MANY flaws, but I know which platform I'd rather be using at the moment, especially after many years as an avid symbian user.

I'll pass on the rather long articles from Apple fansites as I haven't got time to read them at the moment, but cheers anyway. :)

Well if you do get time I think you'll be surprised how neutral the articles are. I certainly was. They give a pretty decent overview of the whole smart phone market and its current state.

i was gonna go omnia but after seeing the vga on the diamond i got a mda compact iv internet browsing and viewing photos is fantastic so much detail, texting is fine also on a touch screen with the diamonds onscreen keypad just like a normal phone i can text one handed with my fat thumb no problem. i would seriously check out all the alternatives before goin for this phone.

They will all take the 8gb.....the cost to them of the 16gb is too high. They will wait at see what success the 8gb brings first.

Wasn't there someone in this thread saying o2 would launch it tomorrow? i.e Monday?

That's what I would have thought, but seeing as tho some e-tailers are already showing pre-orders and the difference is only £60 between them, I'm now hoping operators will offer both from launch :D

You're probably right tho ;)

SW.

Both models are available to buy SIM free now. Orange can't take the 16GB version at the moment, not because of cost, but because 1 network has an exclusive with Samsung (Vodafone).
