It is a great cashback deal if you can find well priced stock. I've got the full set now; 500GB, 1TB and 2TB. The 2TB was just £40 more than I originally paid for the 500GB!
The 5B2QGXA7 firmware update from January 2022 includes performance improvements for Windows 11.

It will make no difference whatsoever in gaming. People think direct storage will change the course of history but I don't even think a single game properly utilises it.

True there are no games released yet. Forspoken will likely be the first. But there are benchmarks and tech demos which demonstrate the difference. Reduced loading times is nice to have, but the biggest benefit will be streaming hi-res textures into open world games.

It's now for sale, price is cheap, I've ordered a 1TB 990 pro for myself (150 pounds). Will put the 980 pro into the playstation

I’ve been told the 25th November for my pre order.

I wouldn’t say cheap; pretty much as expected for a new model. The 2TB 980 Pro was less than that during the recent promotion. That’s cheap.

For me it's cheap as I paid more than that for my 1TB 980 Pro which I bought at launch. I suppose ssd prices have fallen a lot in the last couple years.

Edit: checked my receipt, I paid 235 pounds for a 1TB 980 Pro

Ordered the 2TB 990 Pro, replacing an 850 Pro 1TB that’s still running well and will be demoted to D drive.
The 850 Pro 1TB cost me £425 in 2015!

I was between the 990 Pro and SN850X too.
Went with the Samsung purely because if I keep my current Samsung drive in then I only need the one software application installed.

I just wish she included direct storage type benchmarks. I'm more interest in what's the fastest drive for direct storage
This is true. And I should have waited really to see those benchmarks.

I alway buy Samsung SSDs but the 990 pro isn't out yet. I just bought a 5800x3d and even on that I should have waited for Black Friday.

But still the sn850x is cheaper, comes with heat sink and according to her is the fast for gaming scenarios so it can't be that bad when it comes to direct storage. It seems to be a drive also aimed at the PS5.
