My X800GTO2 Arrived today! Superb card. Up and running with no problems! Battlefield 2 looks awesome!! The back plate looks bent a little but does not hamper installation.

Will flash when i get a better step by step walkthrough off of someone (Hint Hint).

Great card though............COOL

Good to hear about the card. :)

As for flashing it, see if you can get the CD/DVD version these guys have made up to do it, which should make it nice & easy.

Hmmm i have a Sapphire X800 GTO Ultimate. I guess if it has an R480 core (which i havent checked yet) i should try this out, right?

The GTO cards do not have the R480 core and therefore are not moddable! The GTO2 cards are the ones with the R480 core.

Actually I partly take that back, after scanning a review of the GTO Ulimate the particular card that was reviewed actually had a R480 core. However it goes on to say that GTO cards should use a mix of defective R423, R430, and R480 cores. So if I was you I would check using Ati Tools (using the process described in the techpowerup guide ) to find out if your card is moddable. :)

I just took the heatsinks off and it is an R480. I might mod this but will have to check how good the cooling system is before i do this.

I also need confirmation that if i have a bad flash, can i recover and reflash to the old bios without having a PCI card? I only have PCI-e cards here.

Trouble with my card guys!!

Played a bit of Battlefield 2 ok. Then later on in the afternoon i decided to have another go. Can't get past the 'Connecting to server' page!! I am playing as a single player. Tried this many times, nothing! Just freezes there and i have to reboot the PC.

So, installed another game and the same thing with that!

It keeps freezing on the game load ups!!

I have not changed anything in my PC. See my spec in my sig. All brand new!!
New Cat drivers, no flashing / overclocking done at all. Hard drive was formatted and win XP Pro installed with SP2. Hard drive has been De-fragged too. All up to date drivers etc.

Ordinary windows works fine! It is only when i go to play a game that i have this problem. The temps are fine too, really good infact.

I have tried using one stick of ram etc etc. All the usual things!!

Any ideas?

Check you can do the mod first as described in my last post. As for cooling, it wouldn't matter that much as you are unlocking pipes.

received mine yesterday. modded and overclocked.

this is the log of ATitool:

2005-10-13 21:33:39 Scan for Artifacts started... Core: 528.75 Mhz Memory: 569.25 Mhz
2005-10-13 22:56:18 Scan for Artifacts stopped Total runtime: 4958 seconds

and the temperature was around 58 degrees celcius.

This is the best buy a had since starting building my PC.

X800GTO2... its Bloody Christmas :D

At was your top overclock on this machine.

I see different types of overclocks on this thread, and i would like too know if i can get better than 530/570.

At stock would I see much of a difference from my Herc 9800Pro?

Oh yes, a very nice performance increase indeed. Probably double the performance in most benchmarks (with the 16 pipes enabled), and untold improvements in games. Mine's coming on Monday!!!!!! WOOOOOO!!!!! :D

Remember, you need a PCI-e mobo too....
