Sara Sharif

Very disturbing statement from the couple

It could not sound worse really, acknowledging the child died in an incident but inferring that it had nothing to do with them… then leaving the child like that. Thinking that sounds good enough to say out loud.

Wut.

"Hey British police. It is possible that we may have killed a girl that was known to you, but we're now in Pakistan. The body can be found at address XYZ".

Where they did kill her on purpose, by accident or by neglect, they tried to mitigate the fact they did it by 'shopping themselves to our police. Because they 'shopped themselves from a place where they can't be extradited, it's a pretty cowardly thing to do, mitigation or not. I think they only way they'll get caught now is if a bounty is put on their head, or some sort of special ops mission like how Saddam Hussian or Osama Bin Laden finally got caught.

By cooperate with the police do you mean "put out a statement of intent and then refuse all questioning from said authorities"?

Should never be surprised with the level of scum from those regions and their "honour" which is anything but honourable.

That would seem to be the case! Suspect they'll blame the uncle and say he's a bad man etc.

they are in hiding because they are worried about the Pakistani police assaulting them. they are complaining about their family being harassed whilst they are searched for and they are willing to work with UK police

here is a really out there idea..... don't run in the 1st place then!

Pakistani police would not be involved
no need to involve any family members
they would be on hand to cooperate fully with UK police.

From the report there were ongoing injuries so absence of remorse was consistent -
no input from social services yet on any concerns (thought there had been retrospectively for recent case where parents just imprisoned)

more worrying that any extradition agreement seems to be a politically decision, and newsnight was saying best case track record 2-3years,
maybe interred in the interim though.

Seems there's a brother/stepson too, as in unrelated to the wife/mother of this couple/family. I wonder if they'll be able to get him back sooner and talk to him independently re: what happened in that household.

Also very suspect that the uncle fled too, what did it have to do with him?

"I told Urfan and Beinash that they can go wherever they want to, but I will not let the children go with you. Until today, no one had asked me about the children.
"They kept asking me about Urfan, Faisal and Beinash, no one asked me about the children."

These people live in another reality with the guff excuses they come up with:

"I told Urfan and Beinash that they can go wherever they want to, but I will not let the children go with you. Until today, no one had asked me about the children.
"They kept asking me about Urfan, Faisal and Beinash, no one asked me about the children."
Mr Sharif had previously repeatedly denied being in touch with his son or knowing where the family was.

Like, you didn't think to do the responsible thing and let the Pakistani Police & British Embassy know about the kids... When previously denying being in touch with the family he must have thought they just meant the happy couple on the run who presumably teleported the children to him without actually contacting him themselves...

The family has complained about the police "illegally" detaining them and raiding their homes... but then when they raided this home they found the children.

I guess at least they can be returned to the UK now, presumably the full brother of Sara might be able to go and live with his mum instead.

I guess we might get some answers now:

Three people who police want to speak to over the death of 10-year-old Sara Sharif are returning to the UK from Pakistan.
Sara's father, Urfan Sharif, his wife Beinash Batool and brother Faisal Malik, are expected to land later.
Surrey Police said they wanted to speak to the trio, who were living with Sara before her death and left the UK the day before her body was found.
Post-mortem tests found Sara sustained "multiple and extensive injuries".
Sara's father, his wife and his brother are booked on a flight landing at London Gatwick tonight, having changed in Dubai.
They had flown to Dubai on a plane from an airport at Sialkot, in the Punjab province, early Wednesday morning.
It has not yet been confirmed that they boarded the flight in Dubai.
Police in Pakistan said the three travelled of their own free will.

they have not willingly come back - haven't the Pakistani authorities put child guarding on other children in the family - so , somewhat coercive that they re-appeared -
that's how r4 worded it.

The Pakistani police put pressure on them, arresting there relatives, beating them etc.

I don't know whether it would have been better for them to be shot up there or face life behind bars here.
