Satellite Reign - Spiritual Successor to the original Syndicate - Kickstarter

If you'd ever setup a business you'd appreciate it doesn't happen overnight aka give them a chance.

And FYI from the picture I saw that ain't no swanky office!

Not new footage, sorry :p been following the dev diary really closely, unlike some other developers who go down this route 5Lives seem to be spending more time developing than talking about developing :D Cannot wait

Looks so syndicate wars with the lighting and the way the cars move around.

A remake in aesthetics alone, something to look forward to if you were ever a fan of wars or indeed the original.

Going by the content of the dev diary it sounds like it's going to be massive advancement over Syndicate in the area of city simulation, which was always one of the best ideas in the game. There is tons of potential for emergent behaviour creating enjoyable chaos here.

I had been getting a bit worried about this to be honest as things have been extremely quiet, even on their website & forums.

I would be disappointed if it was merely a remake of the original or Wars. Could make it so much better these days with the processing power available - politics, much more detailed consequences of mission actions etc.

I don't think i'd ever want to play something at the pre-alpha stage!

When I kickstarted Wasteland 2 I still waited for the final retail release. Didn't even play the Beta.

Looking really good for this stage in the game. The devs have been respondig more to comments lately and have assured people that lots of the in game graphical elements are placeholders (like the over bright door status lights). I was concerned with the class system a little, still don't know if you are forced to have one assault type, one hacker etc. or if you can choose your team loadout. Would be a bit of a shame if this wasn't the case, but I have more trust in 5Lives than most game devs to do the right thing.

This needs another poke. They have pre-orders up on humble-bundle. Beta going out to backers, etc. It's nearly here so time to start giving it a little attention :D

You lot really should show this some love. You'll all be wanting it's babies in about a month when it's released :p

also (from the steam greenlight section):

Malus [developer] 3 Dec @ 1:16am
Early Access is scheduled for 11 December.

depending on the backing level you may already have an alpha build available to you (do you see the beta forums on the main site?)

Otherwise though, yes, backers below the alpha tier ("solider" I think) will get it same time as early access.

I had kind of vowed not to play it until release, but couldn't resist. Downloaded via Steam after getting verified by Humble. Played an hour or so, very impressed. Obviously a little rough around the edges, but the atmosphere is there and I have renewed confidence in 5Lives. Will I play it more? Don't know, might leave it til release

So what are people thinking? It just popped up on my games list but there doesnt5 seem to be much talk about this game. Hoping its because people are busy playing it!

Haven't played it for a while. Noticed that there was the update the other day but I'm going to leave it for a while and come back later.

Not given it a go yet, was just going to wait for the final game to be released, but the updates make it look like it will be a much more in depth sequel for all intents and purposes to Syndicate Wars.
