Satellite Reign - Spiritual Successor to the original Syndicate - Kickstarter

I've nearly bought it several times now. Waiting for full release!

Hopefully it won't ruin my childhood memories of Syndicate on the A500!

It looks interesting but having been burnt once I wont be paying for early access games ever again. I will wait until release and a few reviews from now on.

I just got reminded I pledge $100 to this via email... nostalgia kicked in.

Still not playing it until release!

I've got Satellite Reign installed, tried to play the original release. All it did was grab 1.4gb of ram and then crash.

Not tried it since, but it's updated a few times since then.

Entered Beta

Posted by 5 Lives Studios
We're pleased to announce that Satellite Reign has now reached its content-complete milestone, meaning the entirety of the game is now available to play, from start to finish. From here, our focus is entirely on fixing bugs and improving performance.

So, what's been added to this release?

Dracogenics Tower Unlocked
The Gates have been opened to the final section of the city—Dracogenics Tower. At the northern end of the CBD, Dracogenics Tower is the corporation's world headquarters, and the office of the CEO, Steven Dengler. If you ever want to take control of Dracogenics' Monopoly on their sought-after Res-Tech network, you'll have to climb the tower and say 'hi' in person—but don't expect a warm welcome. This encounter will be the most challenging portion of the entire game, so don't go up unprepared!
Tag Gets a Voice
Until now, Tag has just been some text on a screen, but now she'll deliver key mission information over voice-comms. In addition to the intro and outro sequences, Tag delivers updates on the ultimate mission objective as you progress through the city.

Opening Sequence
Rather than just dumping you into the world oblivious, we now have a suitably cyberpunk introduction sequence upon starting a new game. However, if you're anything like our lead coder Mike, and you hate story, feel free to hit the skip button.

Leaving Early Access
Entering beta is a huge milestone, but not as big as getting the game ready for the masses, and leaving Early Access. We're announcing today that we will be entering full release on the 28th of August 2015. We'll have a full launch trailer ready to go out before then, but in the meantime, here's a little teaser trailer we've put together.

Of course, leaving Early Access is by no means a finish-line. Satellite Reign is hugely important to our little studio, and we'll be continuing to support the game as long as necessary post-release, while also investigating new content and features we would like to add.

Thanks very much for all of your help and support over the past 7 months we've been on Early Access, and a huge thanks to those of you who had enough faith to back us on Kickstarter almost 2 years ago! We're almost there now, so keep leaving your thoughts on the forums, and sending those bugs through!

5 Lives Team.

I might download it now. I had been waiting for full release, but not got anything to play atm.

It's... fairly playable in it's current form. Got plenty other stuff to be on with but this is worth a punt if you don't have much else on :)

I have the first district pretty sewn up, but I'm not playing anymore until release. Don't want to spoil it too much. Tbh its great, but I have a feeling that it's not 100% of what I was hoping for. Just hope the retail sales will allow for Satellite Reign 2 :D

Not sold so far.

Initially it feels atmospheric but that soon wears thin when you realise its all false. Citizens do nothing. Security forces are only there to tackle you. No AI to speak of. Theres no 'life' in the game. It all feels rather hollow.

Harsh perhaps but I was hoping nearly two decades on they could have evolved the above, not just apply graphical polish.

Definitely agree with Bleek here, the game feels lifeless and is a bit disappointing IMO.

One example that quite bugs me is the constant streams of cars driving around the city - often bumper to bumper - but serving no purpose and not reacting to ANYTHING (this includes being shot at). Other than getting in the way of your agents path-finding or providing cover, what is the point? And why so many of them to begin with?

The AI is lacking and doesn't really pose any serious challenge unless it manages to overwhelm you with sheer numbers.

Most missions tend to go the same way, for me at least, you attempt to use stealth but bad pathfinding results in your agent being spotted or getting stuck in a doorway. It then becomes a 'shoot and sprint' effort to get to the objective area and back out. This assumes you actually bother to use your agents - it's much easier to just hijack members of the security forces then walk in to compounds, shoot out cameras, throw grenades, kill guards and complete the mission without triggering the slightest response.

You have a team of four agents with different skills that you can level up but the Hacker and Infiltrator are by far the most useful which is to the detriment of the other two classes, Soldier and Support.

Maybe multiplayer would help. I think other players competing against you for shared goals/objectives would make this game a lot more challenging and enjoyable. As it stands the gameplay is bland and repetitive even if the graphics are cyberpunk-pretty.

Greetings Agents,

As some of you may already be aware, Satellite Reign is now less than two weeks from leaving Early Access, taking it into full release. Creating this title has been an amazing, unforgettable experience for us, and we owe it all to our backers. Watching the release date draw nearer is both exciting and nerve-racking, but we’re optimistic that people will enjoy what we’ve created.

We’d now like to present to you the Satellite Reign Launch Trailer!

Hopefully will be good

Been playing this over the weekend, it is fun but so many annoyances :(

The AI is strange, you have to manually target everything 1 by 1 in fights. Say you take down a guard & 3 run after you, your squad just stands there getting shot.
The cars might as well not be in the game, have seen them spinning in the road and npc's walking over them (clipping up to roof of cars)
Every time I load a save I get a audio bug where a bass sound plays infinitely (it's like wump wump wump wump), have seen a few posts regarding this on steam so hopefully they will fix it.
I've also had my agents walk off of buildings taking no damage.
What is going on with the ziplines? seems hit and miss whether you can select them.

I had to disable every graphical effect option as it just looked murky and blurry.
Also the performance seems pretty terrible.
My GPU seems to be working overtime (shows 99% usage on afterburner) and I am getting an avg of 55fps on ultra 1080p.

It really plays like a beta version of a game but it's still really addictive/fun altho I'm not sure it will keep my attention to the end.

Surprised at the negatively around this, was an original kickstarter backer but didn't play it until release and I'm pleasantly surprised. No it's not Syndicate 2015 but it is a pretty decent cyberpunk Commandos style game. It's great fun trying to sneak into the various bases without setting off the alarms, disabling security cameras and gates, taking out guards with a silenced sniper rifle etc.

Anyways if you liked the Commandos series of games I think you'll love this, even for its flaws as mentioned in the posts above.
