Saving Sessions / Demand reduction thread

Nothing published yet so will be a last minute thing if it happens. Perhaps its just not cold enough for demand to spike high enough. Obviously not a test event unless they try a very late one. (the Octopus website couldn't handle a last minute one I bet!)

Even the preliminary industry warning website isn't noting the possibility of a session, so I would think it's pretty unlikely at this point unfortunately.

Sorry for getting any hopes up for folk that saw a new post in here but spotted this on the SS Facebook page.

So everyone, new year new payment structure. All sessions before Christmas had a guaranteed £3/kWh saved to the operators, octopus passed on £2.25/kWh, Axel 10p less and so on. But going forward all tests will be subject to open bidding!

Not sure if that is a good or bad thing.

Hmm, yes, not sure either, payments could go either way and I guess it's possible that certain suppliers could fail to get any allocation at all if they bid too high. I seem to remember the GivBack T&Cs saying something about their payment amounts being gauranteed until the end of December and then variable afterwards, so that would back this up as accurate.

Yeah at a price point close to £2.25 I am sure.
But if they were to decide to bid say £1 they would be gambling that take up would be as significant.

I guess as they try a few price points its going to give them some idea.

Its going to be like placing ebay snipe bids!
The test sessions should have varied the price. While its worth it for the majority at £2.25, as it goes lower normal users and people without batteries will be less inclined to take part. Not worth the hassle for 20p etc.

I'm surprised there wasn't one today. The demand hit 44GW tonight and gas and coal were making up a good 60% of that. During the three of the last four saving sessions it was 41-42GW and gas/coal were below 55%.
