Saving Sessions / Demand reduction thread

My battery is at 50% and is set to kick on and charge at 17:00 for 30 mins which will add about 25% ready to dump 50% back to the grid for an hour.

The heat pump will go off at 18:00 for an hour and I’ll ride out the rest of the day on grid.
I guess the only problem with topping up in the 16:00-19:00 is ruining the baseline for future sessions.

Edit- Actually ignore that, I'm thinking of the other sessions

My batteries down to 21.7%, will I get through to 2am before hitting 10%? I think so, but the batteries are not going to get a full charge in the three hour cheap rate period, so it is going to have a knock on effect tomorrow with the current poor weather.

Edit: 13% SOC at 2am, they reached 82% by 5am

So is the "Utilization" column the price they bid, so 700 = 70p per unit? Then I guess the regional columns are how much power they are expecting to save in each region?

Yes, that column is pounds per MWh so divide it's value by a 1000, and you'll get the price per kWh.

so does that mean there won't be a saving session today?
Most likely not, not sure if Octopus can enter another bid or not, I also think they are trying to push the price up, so may not want to bid lower anyway.

I see there is another requirement tonight 4pm - 6pm, though most demand between 4pm and 5pm (500Mw the same as yesterday, whereas 5pm to 6pm is only 100Mw), wonder if Octopus will have any more luck or whether they'll stick with their high bids.

ooooo good to know I better shut my battery off just incase as otherwise it will be flat by 4pm (Mrs working from home and insists on extravagant luxuries like heating in my home office :D

(I use hot water bottle and electric blanket when I WFH because I am a tight northerner )

One interesting thing, if I'm reading the reports from previous sessions correctly (which I may not be), then out of the 500Mw requested they only got between 28Mw and 44Mw, the one exception is Wednesday (the only one Octopus have participated in), where they got 111Mw, so still below the stated requirement, but considerably better. Maybe that will help to push prices back up?

Posted on another forum by Nowty, very low bids yet still rejected.

Bids have come in early today but unfortunately ALL bids from everyone were rejected. Octopus had bid 30p / kWh and even the lowest at 23.5p / kWh was no go.

I cant see another one now this side of Xmas and with the low demands over the festive period, probably have to wait till the new year for another chance
