Saxxxo VTR

However, I just find them very bland compared to the gti/vts :(

How can it be bland when it looks and feels identical just goes a bit slower?

Surely if a VTR is bland then a VTS, which isn't different enough to make a difference, is also bland.

Lol, I was gonna say the only difference between mine and the VTS is power and possibly suspension, altho mines rock ard neway:D

Breaks better on VTS?

saw an old shape VTS for sale down the road for 3k, had done 81k miles and i really really wanted it :(

no way could i afford it at the moment though :p but the extra 30bhp and 8 valves would be lovely :p

Im so sick of my VTR, its now started making some new noises. A sort of grinding in the gearbox area when its cruising at over 40mph, increasing with speed, but decreasing with accelaration... The mechanic doesnt know what the problem is so is investigating further on monday.

Im now looking into getting rid of it before I have to throw more money at it (so far in 4 months Ive spend £600 on fixing problems!!!! )

I cant really afford much right now (£2k max) and hopefully Ill get around £1500 p/x, so Im looking into a 1.8 Focus zetec as a replacement (ideally would like a leon TDI se, but cant afford one). Hopefully a Focus will be more reliable (?!).

This is the last time I EVER buy a french car, and I would recommend everyone avoids them. The Saxo has got to be the worst car ive had the misfortune of owning. Everything about it screams out cheapness, its noisy, unrefined, has a truely terrible driving position, and its not fast. Despite what everyone says, it isnt that much fun either.
I probably would have loved it at 17, but after driving so many much better cars its has just reenforced just how **** it really is. Maybe im just getting old?

Or... maybe you bought a nail considering how much under book value you paid.

If they were such crap in general, how come my old one of similar age took an absolute hammering for 18 months and ~25k miles and required nothing but consumable components. And the new owner was more than happy with it until he wrote it off :(

That's like buying a Rover 214 and having it suffer head gasket failure.

I've owned 2, done over 20,000 miles in total and not had any such problem.

Its low mileage so it'll cost a fortune for what it is.
