Yeah Brembo disks Brembo Max on the fronts and standard replacement bremo rears. Mintex 1144's all around. In total the upgrade was £200 money well spent imo. :)

The "fabric" they used in the earlier ones could have been velour, which is a nicer feel than cloth, however the pattern is gash.

The phase 2 saxo's IMO are a better buy (apart from the obvious looking more up to date), they have the digital odometer (rather than the ugly thing in the MK1), white dials, and far better looking tail lights. There is also the matter of the phase 2 rear spoiler not being so large and thus not looking so "shopping trolley handle".
 
Will you just get lost already, its better to own a saxo than pretend you own a beemer. :rolleyes:

Think that thing would be out my price rang haha.
 
Its one of the rarer colours. I would say though you're looking £2500 minimum for a phase 2, probably closer to £3K.

yes, but do you want one that will cost you 2k, no!

tbh a Mk1, barr maybe the headlights is a lot easier to make look better than a mk2, i own a mk1 ;) :P

A VTR looks goos as standard really, as it has a "body kit" on it vs. a std. 1.0 saxo etc., also a lot is about the colour, but overall depends on what you want, you can pick up a very good Mk1 with a fair few miles but runs like a charm, or a erm.. interesting mk2, best place is to look at http://www.saxosportsclub.com/forum/ yeah yeah, chav forum etc. but try it, they actually are sensible and don't ruin the looks of cars and know exactly what they are talking about the majority of the time when it comes to saxo's, ohh yeah, they ahve the forsale section too ;)

They look dated, but are much cheaper than the mk2s. a good mk1 will cost 1800, a good mk2 6months newer will cost 2500...
not really worth the extra imo. but depends on how long you plan to keep the car....
 
Just seen a Silver one on AT for £2495.........it's a Y Reg.

If I could pick one up for £2300 i'd buy it, as long as it was nice to drive!!!

Well put it like this, I want it to stay standard, may lower it but i'm not tinting the windows, putting on new alloys etc.

I want to keep it at least 1 yr even 2 years.

The interior in the MK2 looks a lot better!!!
 
Don't buy one that isn't top spec and in very good condition. From what I've seen, the market is flooded with Saxos at the moment, and sellers are having a hard job to sell them. It's definitely a buyers market, and there seem to be a lot of bargains out there - especially VTRs - as they're first cars for a lot of youngsters who then upgrade to the faster VTS, so they're everywhere.

Thats £150 a month on insurance for the MK2 :(

If people are struggling to sell them.............can you knock them down?

Looking on the saxo sports club forums, people who originally advertised their VTSs for up to £5k are having to come down towards £3k to make a sale. There seems to be a bit of bad feeling about it!

Out of interest, do an insurance quote on a Pug 106 GTi. It's just like the Saxo VTS, but doesn't have as bad a reputation - therefore insurance is cheaper (probably not as cheap as a VTR, but worth a shot). They're a lot rarer as well, so are easy to sell, and will often fetch twice as much as an equivalent spec VTS. And there's quite a few about for £2-2.5k.
