I'm reading stories on the Saxo forum of guys/girls on there getting quotes from Bell/Elephant at 18 0 NCB £1300..........

I'm gettin £2k+................ :(

Trust me you are lucky to get a quote at all, many companies wont insure people under 21 on them because so many people crash them, even at 22 with 0ncd i am paying £1k for 10 month.

Looks like i'm just gonna have to suffer the £1600 until I get 1 NCB.

Unless something can be done about this Named Driver Experience.

Surely they must be ringing these company's up to get such good quotes...................

I've had both two and there is a difference. Not huge but I definetly noticed it, the 98bhp engine was far more refined and through the rev range pulled much better than the 90bhp unit.

Bar the engine the trim on the later 98bhp cars was much improved, felt a lot more solid.

Perhaps the older one you had was a bit of a shed? The interior is identical quality wise as I have been saying for ages. The seats are the same, the doorcards are the same, the carpets the same, the sound deadening is the same etc. I'll give you that the 98bhp one is a bit more refined, it idles quieter and the throttle is a tad more responsive but noticeably quicker? Na.

Nope, both owned from new.

The sound deading in the 98bhp was far superior, (most of which was down to a different rear parcel shelf and some plastic trim on the rear pillars). The central coloumn controls were different (all soft touch plastic). There were lots of small changes to, different dials, different gearknob. The general build quality was far greater to.

It depends how you drive them. If you drive like I do on A Roads then its easy to tell the difference between the two. General town and motorway driving was just the same.

In saying that, I've moved on now, when going back to them its amazing how flimsy they feel.

Was your mk1 a black or silver top?

What year was your 90bhp one? My 99 had the trim on the rear pillars and an identical parcel shelf. I just noticed about the soft touch controls - hardly a biggie, I put a mk2 gearknob on my mk1 but tbh they are both crap compared to the £6 106 GTI one I got the other day! The dials look more modern but the old ones were easier on the eye at dusk and easier to change the clock and trip. Really think you are making something out of nothing though, infact there is places where the mk2 feels cheaper. plain solid plastic rear doorcards instead of trimmed ones, no holders in the rear seats for the seatbelt clips etc

I drive on A roads a lot and within the 2 week gap of not owning the mk1 and getting the mk2, it doesn't feel any different. And last year when I had my mk1, I used to chase my mate in his mk2 round country lanes and he couldn't lose me and I couldn't get past. They were pretty much identical.

edit: and difficulty insuring one pah, about £700 in my name at 18 :p

Is a 2000W Reg VTR 90bhp or 98bhp?

Got a quote from Quinn today of £1275 tpft PP. Nobody else comes anywhere near that so I'll probably go with them.

Just gotta find one I like now:D

I'm just struggling to find one up for "private" as I could probably knock them down............unlike a dealer.

Plenty up for £2995 at dealers, it's worth £2700 private so hmmm :)

Bell Insurance, Saxo VTR, Fully Comp, 18 yr old with 1 NCB....
£4034?!

Man that is crazy money. I just passed my test six months ago and pay 375 TPFT for my saxo 0 NCB. Granted it's only a 1.1i but no way would I pay over 300 quid a month to have a VT whatever badge on my car.

Yep, I get the same on fully comp.

I've just gotta realise that if I drive like a nutter, the chances of me having the car for a decent period of time is low!!!

I've now gotta decide what colour I want.

My favourite is Poisedon blue, followed by the moonstone bluey colour :p ...........I do like black, but black with no A/C in the summer = Murder :)

A 2000 W reg will be the 90bhp. My 2001-X reg with 24k miles on it in THE rarest colour was £2900 just to give you an idea. My mate bought an X reg from a dealer with 38k on the other day for 3100.

Poisedon blue is the best colour. ;) :p

Nah, the most common boring colour. Cheap to get parts for.

My old one - Marautius blue is the nicest I reckon and quite rare. Zest Yellow is too in your face for most people so I won't try suggesting thats the nicest colour :)

Perhaps that was why my quote was low.............I used a W reg plate car :( when I want a 98bhp VTR.
