meh, the LHD to RHD conversions on french cars are the cheapest ive seen

wipers? nah lets just keep them the same
bonnet popper? nah the passenger can do it
brakes? nah lets just rig up some cheapo linkage that makes em all spongy

:p

edit - does anyone know if the same gearbox is used on all pug/citroen 1.6 8valvers?

Thats is so random isn't it.............bonnet release the other side, eh??? :D

Well I picked her up today, and despite a brief insurance scare i'm very impressed.

Quinn got my date of birth screwed up on my initial quote of £1275 so the repayments went up to £130 a month, I was bit angry but hey.

Anyway the car is great, the ride is erm..........quite hard and you feel every bump lol :)

I filled it to the brim after driving it 50 miles home..........£33.

How many city miles would I be looking at?

How much is a new front fog light bulb?

Well i've spent 3 hours on her today, making her look good (washing the lot) and it looks superb. I couldnt take pic's as it was dark:S

I changed the front fog bulb (£3) but I haven't got a clue how to change the one thats out on the number plate.

I have a feeling my discs need changing as I get judder when braking hard.

Other than that, it's a wicked little car and I'm in love with it. :D

Ahh so you don't need to get to it from the boot. I saw the clips and said to my mate i'd ask on here first. :)

When it goes in for a service, another few months yet, how much are Citreon likely to charge me for new break pads an disks?

Is it cheaper for me to get ones similar to cymatty?

I have eagle f1's GDS-3 i think, very good tyres, ignore gt3 he doesnt like them but i have had mine for 16k miles with aggressive driving and there is loads of tread left. They are provide very good wet and dry grip. :)

I've got Bridgestones on mine, I think they are the originals

14" wheels so GS-D2 which I can say suck donkey balls. See here and here for proof that the sidewalls are too soft. So yes ignore me if you like replacing prematurely unevenly worn tyres or even worse blowouts. I will not comment on GS-D3s as they are apparantly improved and lots of people I know who do hard driving have said they are fine, with a couple of people saying they are still to soft but that doesn't matter as you can't get them in 14" size anyway.

16k of aggressive driving? Hardly aggresive, mine lasted 5k iirc.

No, originals are Michelin pilot Sport SXs, now replaced with Pilot Exaltos.

When it comes to doing your brakes, cymattys setup is about the best you will get without changing caliper/disc size. Brembo Max front discs, brembo standard rear discs and Mintex 1144 pads. Fitting isn't hard, give it a go yourself. Also NGK plugs, castrol oil, citroen oem filters is the way to go.

When first purchasing the car I would replace the antiroll bar droplinks on any saxo, £12.75 + vat from GSF car parts and imo are a consumable part that should be replaced every 10k miles or so, stiffens up a soggy handling saxo no end and will stop any annoying knocking sounds.

Thanks for advice,

Where are these drop links located?

1st thing i'm doing on mine is change the brakes.............they are shocking. How much is labour usuallu on brakes?

I need to get myself a suitable pair of trainers because my size 11 nike tn's are clashing lol.

Neva mind............I did a mini photoshoot earlier so the piccy's will be up later.

Is this easy to replace yourself?? I have now done almost 30k miles in my car and this hasnt been replaced so I think it might help a great deal if I do..

I have a Red 02 VTR had it now for almost 2 years and I am very happy with it, the only subtle modifications i have done is the ice - changed the head unit for a D-Mask kenwood MP3 player, JBL component speakers upfront and Kenwood 6x9 subs, improved the sound quality enormously.

Have a look at my website www.saxovtr.com some pictures of my car on there and some details about saxo's.

I must upgrade my brakes as i feel the standard brakes are terrible..

Andy

I've got a Kenwood HU, standard in car speakers & then some 6x9's on the parcel shelf.

They are great when the windows are up, but as soon as I hit the motorway and it's warm (like it is now) and the windows are down I have to turn the HU volume up. This then causes them to distort badly during bass in a track........and as I mainly listen to bass'y tracks it's not nice listening.

Now many people seem to think a quick fix would be sub..........but I don't want it to ruin the music and the only thing I hear is bump bump and no lyrics.

What would you recommend I do first? I have a 200w 4 channel amp in the boot btw.

My Saxo has a very annoying tinny noise at 1.75k revs..........only when it's warmed up though:S.

Also at idle it makes this nasty rattling noise at drivers side. Outside the car it's normal, but when I put my ear in the arch I can hear this tapping noise.

Any ideas?

It gets louder as the car gets warmer :(

It's rattling like a crappy old diesil would lol.

Any ideas what it could be? It sounds like it's coming from the top end by where the windscreen meets the car.

It's only just started doing it and I can hear it tapping away!

arrrrgggghhhhh:D
