logmein123.com is the easy to remember url you use to access the remote client.
our company uses this and it's a real product.
No Microsoft will not remotely access your laptop. Jesus. Dban the drive and learn to only visit legitimate sites when looking for numbers and if someone ever asks for access to your machine, deny it.
The number was 08000 927973
let us know!!
But someone needs to help these Nigerian princes get their money out of the country, dammit!
This ^^ It's the only way to be sure.
I just googled 'Hotmail Support', the first 3 are sponsored links (bought and paid for) and guess what they are the Logmein123 folks.
The 4th is the genuine site - live.microsoft.com
Save your money and DBAN the laptop and learn from the episode !
I just don't understand what they are hoping to get out of it by saying that we do have a virus on the laptop
I just don't understand what they are hoping to get out of it by saying that we do have a virus on the laptop. Anyway, laptop is being backed up tonight, and shipped out tomorrow morning. Cards should arrive next 5 days. Then she's never using it again!!
logmein123 isn't a scam
Calling it now.. Nice music.. I wonder if "Kenneth" from Mumbai answers?!?
EDIT - It is indeed an Indian call centre. They claim to be "IYOGI Technical support". Even before I opened my mouth he was asking for personal details. I just asked him to confirm the company name and hung up.
I sincerely doubt Microsoft/Hotmail would inform anyone to phone that number merely because of a blocked Hotmail account. It sounds as if your girlfriend fell for a sponsored Google search result.
Why don't you call them up again and use the same issue as the OP had and see what they do. Just put them on the spot and say what the hell are you going connect to my PC?

Today she searches online for a number for Hotmail, she rings a freefone number, speaks to some guy. He gets her to go onto logmein123 which brought up a window which asked for an activation code which he gave her. This guy is now using her laptop
