Scared of moving up

Around here Year 7 was the last year of primary school and Year 8 was the first year of secondary? Odd.

Either way I just realised the OP was born in 1999. I now feel old.

School is nothing to be worried about.

It's funny that when you're in school, you think it all matters so much. What you don't realise is that life doesn't even begin until you're done.

One of my favourite quotes is "If the best time of your life was back in school/college/uni, you're doing it wrong."

I highly agree, I don't understand why people think school was the best time ever. I found it incredibly dull and boring. The being around friends all day every day aspect was great, but life is so much better as an adult, like the freedom it gives you.

Year 7, 8 and 9 are pretty docile. Crack down if you want to feel challenged, as they'll place you in classes based on ability (in my school called Set 1, Set 2, Set 3 etc). Otherwise wait until you get to year 10 and pick your options before you worry too much. They'll basically say "remember what we taught you in year 7? forget that" and you'll start all over.

Dont waste it though. All old people say this, but appreciate school while you can, because everything changes when you leave!

It's a way of having an excuse that people use to justify and cope with their current situation and the (poor?) decisions they made; nostalgia.

I don't understand the whole "I'm old" train of thoughts either, I wonder how these people will feel when they are actually old!

Yeah, I don't get that either. Those claiming to be old are gonna be suffering with "Olditis" in no time. The self fulfilling prophecy of "Can't do that anymore, I'm old". :o :p

I can hear the zimmer-frames, walking sticks and colostomy bags already.

When I said the other night you should milk "Hi I'm 12 and what is this" as much as possible, I didn't quite think that you'd take it to a whole new level :p

You're going places, man.

Oh yeah, stay in school, don't do drugs.

On a related note, many days of my years in 7 and 8th grade were spent climbing the walls at lunch with mates, going home, proclaiming a half day and spending the rest of the afternoon playing Goldeneye 64 and Mario Kart :D

Hogwash!

Sometimes it's nice to just reflect on the past, good or bad. There's a famous saying that goes along the lines of "you don't know where you're going unless you know where you've been" - **** like that is deep.

19... Damnit feeling old....

Year 7-9 isn't any hassle,
Year 10-11 is panic about GCSE's
Year 12-13 is WTF was I panicking about over GCSE's for - Panicking about A Levels/Uni
Uni = Doing not a lot
Rest of the life - not there yet....

It's no issue what so ever.... :p

Serious?

Year 8 is the biggest **** about of secondary school. You have no exams and nothing to worry about.

Years 10,11,12 & 13 are the one's to worry about.

Not going to trawl through the whole thread... so if it's not been clarified already: some schools are starting to run GCSE from year 9 to year 11. Therefore in year 8, you should really be working hard in your subjects to ensure you have the best chance of getting your "options", and also to ensure if your "option" classes are in sets, you end up in the right one for your ability/target grade.

Here's my suggestion actually bother doing some work at school you will really not regret it at all. I was a bit lazy at school and wish I had worked harder particularly at Maths...

Wow, now I feel old. I've been doing my current job longer than the OP has been alive!!! :o

You're 12, get off the PC and go and run around in the park/woods for gods sake. And stop worring about things, go and enjoy your childhood while you can.

Year 8 is the **** around year. It's a lot easier than the first year. I've just finished it and I'm going into Year 9.

I got a level 7 in maths in year 7. I didn't revise. Is that bad or do I need to revise?

No you don't really need to revise at that level, though just to make you feel bad, I got level 6 in primary school and the only one I remember in secondary school bagged me level 8 maths :)

I think you'll find you have a birthday every year :D

bum dum dum tish
