Erm, I never signed up to it m8y. I was pointing out how pathetic the rule was in support of the OP. Come on hun, keep up !

You were saying it is ok to break a rule you believe to be absurd even if you already agreed to to it.

So in other words you think its ok to go through life breaking any rules you find absurd or disagree with!

Did I say that ? No I didn't. But thanks for the straw man fallacy. I'll file that under garbage.

Thankfully this is not the norm for most people, especially those bringing up a child. That said you do spot these type of parents a mile off!

Just because a rule is a rule, doesn't mean we have to follow it and abide by it blindly like sheeple. Stupid rules control stupid people. Some rules need to be broken to show us that we need to rethink and change them.

"Breaking a patently absurd rule is a good thing. "

Unless you were saying, people shouldn't do good things. "Patently absurd" is what you believe, unless there is a legal definition I'm not aware of.

If rules were never broken we would all be living in the dark ages.

I'm saying what I'm saying. Read my post to see what I'm saying. It's not difficult, it's just reading.

Digging yourself a hole.

Be careful in how you phrase things. It is exactly what you said.

Stop inferring what YOU think I'm saying and just read what I post. I never said I agreed to anything. That's a fantasy you dreamt up all by yourself.

Haha, what a response.

If that is being taken out of context, please let me know how.

This thread is about school rules children and parents have agreed to. Not about the rules of an evil police state which you can't opt out of.

He didn't say that. You are putting words in his mouth. GJ :D

On a slight tangent :D ...draws parallels with t&cs of software licenses which you "agree" to but which quite clearly disregard uk consumer law. So even if you "agree" to it..it certainly does not override your rights as a consumer.

If a rule is bonkers mad yes i would "break" it. :D

Sorry if I'm curt with you, but I don't suffer the asinine gladly.

I'm taking the context of this thread.

It makes abaolutely no sense not to do so unless we are going off in a tangent.

If the context is being redefined then the poster needs to make it clear.

I always love these stories when they appear on the Mail website (yes I have a read of that site- it's comedy gold).
We always have a picture of sad looking child, usually along side slight sad looking parent.
"Won't somebody think of the children" as we get a page on how the whole incident happened. Usually buried at the bottom fo the story we get a small quote from the school, something along the lines of:
"We published the rules on school uniform for all parents to see, this included rules on hair."

Sorry - no sympathy. The rules on school uniform were there and I'm guessing it is being treated in much the same way. Wheras someone in the wrong clothes would be asked to change them, this will have to wait to "grow out". Lesson learn't, follow the school rules on uniform.

I find it rather silly but I do feel the school is well within its rights to react.

They set rules, you broke rules. Its kinda simple.

It might give him some status as a cool kid for a while though, not from the haircut but from the punishment.

I don't agree with the rule, it was broken due to not knowing it existed not because we wanted to rebel.

Now my wife and I know about that rule, we do not agree with it typically, but we will ensure it is followed until a time when it maybe revoked.

The point I've tried to make is that the punishment was not fitting of the crime (for lack of a better word), this seems to have been totally lost in the arguements here.
