Scottish Premiership (and SPFL in general) 2016/17

Anyone who knows or follows Scottish football, knows that 'The Rangers' is used by rival fans as a sly dig in reference to everything that happened regarding the admin and the whole 'new club' nonsense.

For you to deny any knowledge of this is laughable.

Considering you were the one who asked for nonsense to be left out of this thread, it's highly ironic that you have started it. Well done.

If I had wanted to refer to Rangers liquidation I could have used any number of terms. But I didn't, and you are the one who is trying to derail this thread. That's the last I will say on the matter; there are far more important things to discuss.

Great result for some of the youth teams, Thistle, Celtic, and the lambs especially!

To be expected from a newly promoted team though. It'll probably take a couple of seasons before they start meeting expectations.

Fine win from us yesterday. Not a great game by a long shot. Trouten with the opening goal after good work from Jacko down the left wing. Stenny equalise then Ross Caldwell pops up as a sub, 30 seconds later scores the winner after Jacko's shot is parried by the keeper

League favourites Alloa and Livingston both sending out strong messages after a 4 - 0 and 5 - 1 wins respectively.

Good start for my team too beating what looks like a pretty decent Hearts team. We'll need to move up the gears but that'll come with time and with a better defence.

Totally battered Motherwell. We made them look very ordinary. Things are looking good for the season ahead I think.

Must admit, I'm a bit disappointed how quickly Celtic have clicked this season.

Should be a good game at Pittodrie tomorrow against Hearts. What with Celtic and St. Johnstone beating them, I'm fully expecting an Aberdeen win. Hopefully won't be a let down!

Second league game with an away win against Albion Rovers. Sitting equal top (3rd on GD) with Alloa and Livingston. Not bad since we had no points after our first 8 games last season! Tricky game against Cove Rangers this coming Tuesday in the Challenge Cup followed by another home game against Queens Park on Saturday.

We lost a goal in 2 minutes but after that we came more into the game before strolling things against Highland League Cove Rangers. Pleased enough with the result and performance. Queens Park on Saturday and still unbeaten at home since February 20th 2016

Very dissappointed with the way we set out against Celtic. Trying to sit in and soak up pressure at Parkhead is rarely a good idea, but never against this current Celtic team.

We changed our game, and from around 25th to 80th minutes, we were very much a match to Celtic. The penalty was a pathetic decision, and the subsequent yellow card; as was the foul which directly lead to the fourth goal (superb free kick none-the-less).

That match was the epitome of how a team cannot play a fair game in Glasgow.

That said, on the balance of play, Celtic deserved to win. A fair score would have been 2-1, and I'd lose respect for any Celtic fan that said 4-1 was a fair reflection of the game.

That diatribe aside, now that the pityful Sbragia has been humiliated, we have another wonderful spectacle to look forward to. Strachan's ridiculous team selections, which failed to qualify for the Euros, at the expense of a distinctly average Irish team, continue unabated.

These team selections continue, and to add insult to injury, Lee Wallace and Tony Watt were added to the squad to replace Grifiths and Tierney, with absolutely no legitimacy what-so-ever. Further to that, Wallace then decides to jaunt off to Northern Ireland with his club for a friendly, instead of the supposed honour of playing for ones country.

It's a frankly embarassing state of affairs, and for me, the buck stops with Strachan and his cronies.

I've accepted Scotland are pretty poor no matter what team we put out. I think Rangers play Aberdeen after they play Celtic so will be interesting to see how many points they pick up. I'm guessing none. If Boyd can run past their defence then anyone can.

Wallace didn't play against Linfield, so what's your point?

He was injured, so withdrew from the Scotland squad, then travelled with the team that employs him.

Wow, shocking behaviour. How dare he. Oh wait, he plays for Rangers.....explains a lot.

This thread? I'm out.

Back to reality for Rangers after that result.

not really. rodgers made some great signings and they have gelled well fast on the other hand rangers have made terrible signings imo so the writing was on the wall before a ball was kicked.

will be a few seasons at least before rangers catch up. any rangers fans thinking we were gonna win it this year were just being truly unrealistic as the central defence is a shambles there is no pace, height or strength, foderingham is a liability as is kiernan, barton is over the hill as well as hill lol, kranjcar and senderos well..i'll just leave it at that.

of course these are just my honest opinions and iam a rangers man. the better team won we were outclassed.. major changes are needed but that is hard to do with no money.

Rangers were in it for the first half hour then started up lose discipline and get tired, second half started ok then again tired, discipline went out the window and so did the game. Imho it was very different old firm game from normal, on the pitch at least it was more about football than hacking each other to bits, probably as so few of the players have been at the club's for five years or more. Good thing to tbh.
