See told you it was the fairies

Thanks for the article very interesting read

Hadnt heard about the HRT nose at all

Chuckled at the mention of Brawn (because Brawn himself mentioned the possibility of the DD in technical group 6 months+ before the Brawn hit the track for the 1st time)

We submitted a almost identical design as the Brawns diffuser to the FIA and were told it was illegal, probably explains how we were able to catchup to Brawn fairly quickly.

FIA strike again.

We all know what will happen. If Red Bull look like they are going to win by hungary the Fia will change the rules, they will apply the test the way it should be with weight pushing down on the end plates.

Or make them fit an end plate that maintains the minimum clearance plus a tolerance margin.

Red Bull will know this full well and carry on maintaining a controlled race pace while having time in hand should they need it. Pretty much like ferrari in the year Honda came 2nd, the only time you saw the true pace of that car was when they needed to leap cars for pitstops.

Red Bull just need to be smart, make it look like Mclaren have a hope. Otherwise the rules will be changed.

When this is all cleared up and made illegal or teams all crack it I'd love to see how they are actually laying up the composite to achieve this and maintain the strength. Something they couldn't achieve back when rear wings kept falling off.

Yeah HRT brought a new nose cone and front wing for Australia which marginally failed the crash test. Consequently they used their 2010 spec nose cone and front wing.

There is a huge technical team behind all designers, no one man could do it all.

Meanwhile in other news.

Make it happen, I will buy a 6 pack of Red Bull. 3 years on the trot Red Bull have had arguably the fastest car on the grid. When was the last time Mclaren built 2 successive fastest cars on the grid.

The fireworks would be worth it. It would go one way and Vettel would end up at Mercedes :D

And we all know what the FIA did the last time a Mclaren driver went to a team that had it all and was winning.

I'd love to see Lewis in that car, who knows if it will happen though and like others say I think him and Seb will clash

On the subject of bendy wings, in karting we see similar stuff all the time, where people try to gain an advantage, then a new part or new ruling comes in to stop it, usually costing us money!

Senna?

You have lost me, Senna is the last Macca driver I can think of that left to go to a team winning a lot

Have a cookie :)
FIA then banned williams active suspension poor Senna had to drive a dog.
That alone should teach Lewis not to move to rb..anyway rb would run out of teddy bears for vettel to hug if Lewis did move :D

Ah ok, not sure on the timescale on that whether active suspension was banned or not before he signed for williams. The car wasn't really a dog either, it can't have been if Damon nearly won the title in it ;)

It's just the other team cheated better and got away with it or most of it :D

I really don't think the FIA would want to interfere in a battle with Lewis and Vettel in the same car. It would be quite a draw I reckon.

Especially in this country after the MS years when we would finally get to see a German cry every 2nd week from being bummed instead of crying with joy :D

This whole thing with red bull I think can be summed up as :
Is it illegal? No, it has passed every test that has been done.
Is there something else going on? It seems so, pictures of the car at speed do seem to have the front wing lower than when it is parked.

This is what F1 is all about so I don't know why anyone has moaned about it to be honest. The other teams should just stop moaning and find out what is truely going on and copy it. As said above, it would probably get banned then but oh well, would probably be legal for the remainder of the season.

The FIA did make it known well in advance that active ride and the other gizmos that had seen Williams dominate would be banned for '94. They declared active ride was actually illegal at the Canadian GP in '93, and would have put an explicit ban in place after the British GP, except a deal between the FIA and the teams was made that would postpone it to '94.

Edit: I love the hydrolic theory! Sounds like the Ferrari rough paint activated by a mercury switch theory! :)

The switching surface technology exists. It's widely known about in aerospace circles. It's a piezoelectric effect, whereby if you apply a voltage across the material, the surface undergoes tiny changes at the microscopic level to end up in a state where the skin friction is reduced.
