Seeing SetiClassic off in style!

i think the chances of them not noticing is quite remote - how many of them are willing to do anything about it will remain to be seen

It could also be a case of whether they even need to do anything about it :(

14th Nov 02:53 according to the seti@home own stats they had 24235732 WUS to our 23995279. Today 17th Nov at 16:52 they hve 24280105 to our 24053421. In 3.5 ish days we've gained only 13769 WUs, that's just under 3500 per day. At that rate we need some 64 days

If the TPR site had the full german stats we could get a better idea about what they are doing in regard to who's output has gone up/new recruits.

This might give us valuable info, for example, if they have got a big cruncher onboard.

Something I did in Excel... uses stats for today only so may not be entirely accurate.

Anyone go to leeds university? their seti team stopped producing in 2003, could we borrow their stats!
Actually anyone in the top ~50's UK rank would pretty much seal the outcome:D
UK top 500 The trouble is most of the folks in there are with us already!

Im going to take 20 P4s away from folding and get them crunching. As with folding, no HT because of stupid windows 2000, but it should help our output.

MGP how fast are work units being crunched on your 8 thread Xeon monster? Im getting an average of 2 hours 30 mins for each thread on my P 840EE.

Anybody know if SETI benefits from faster memory?, i've been thinking of replacing my old generic PC3200 SC DDR for weeks now, but now might be a good excuse to do it. ;)

Some nice PC4000 DC will let me run 1:1 with my X2. :)

I'm sure SETI sees some benefit in faster RAM. It might be small, but it's something. However, Folding@home benefits from faster memory are dramatic. I suppose you can get it now to see if it really does make your alien-finding faster then you'll have it for later when you're crunching 600 pointers again.

Bear in mind the Xeons are rated at 2.8Ghz, which will be slower than your P840EE.

SetiQueue currently suggests around 2 hours 50 minutes to do a WU. That's 8 WUs every 2 hours 50. :D

At the moment the server is still idle as it's being loaded up and configured, so this will drop off a little.

I think this is correct:
FSB > fast memory > tight timings

But this was in a time when there were AMD XP chips that had to run the FSB at the same speed at the memory, I don't know excactly how big/small the impact is with newer P4 or A64 CPU's

The F@H info is an added benefit as i'll be going back to that once we are done, i would like to get my 1000 unit tiffy before the end but i'm pretty much stuck at dumping 24 WU's a day with my X2, at that rate i'm going to be just 55 short. Even 2 extra per day could seal it.

Think i will sort out an order later, anyway, i'm taking the thread off topic.

Thanks for the input :)
