Seenheiser pc 360

I remember that debacle, they were basically X-Fi Xtreme Music/Gamer editions (Both still decent budget cards imo, far superior to onboard), just given the Fatal1ty fascia makeover, couple of extra outputs, yet no better component wise and £50.00 more expensive.

Only decent Creative Soundcard to use with good quality headphones is X-Fi Titanium HD; which last year cost about £110.00, yet now is over £150.00... :o

That is pretty much the difference except the Fatal1ty has 64MB of X-RAM which openAL games use.

Ah yes 64mb XRAM, can remember Fatal1ty card tests and reviews showed that providing a PC was mid-range quality or better; XRAM benefits were pretty much non-existent with any openAL games. Still a decent sound card value wise if purchased cheap via 2nd hand market, along with Titanium, Gamer, and XtremeMusic.

Especially since the Driver issues for the X-Fi range were finally fixed about 2 or 3 years ago.

TBH, the gaming benefits of sound cards from an frames per second point of view are non-existent. The X-Fi are a good card, they have fixed the driver issues, or at least I have stopped having issues in the last year or so. I think really the upgrade card from these would be ZxR which comes out next month.

Sorry probably should have been more clear; was referring to the apparent sound stuttering reduction in openAL via XRAM which was touted by Creative reps and yet was shown in reviews to be nothing but hot air, not fps gains. :)

I see. They don't focus so much on the on board ram with the new cards at least. It is the quad core processor and the op-amps.

On the headphones topic i just managed to get hold of some Tritton 510 HDA. Good reviews for gaming and 5.1 audio. Looking forward to them arriving.
