Selfie Sticks

Looking like a narcissistic ass perhaps?

Too be honest, i've never seen these "selfie sticks" until i went to London on Friday for some sight seeing.

What is everyones problem? I understand when it's in some bathroom or 50 shots of them doing duck face in their bedroom, but for travelling i think they are great. I bet they have a nice photo album of their lives to show granchildren etc when they are older.

I for certain would love to look back in 30-40 years and see pictures travelling with me actually in it!

I was by Buckingham Palace and there was a couple who gave me their camera and asked me to take a photo of them, it was a nice photo and a great memory but they had to put their trust in a complete stranger to achieve that photo memory.

I think they are a good idea when travelling!

My wife and I have been taking photos of ourselves for 18 years on holiday, usually in front of a famous monument or an amazing peice of scenery. People usually offer to take a photo for us but its a tradition we've been doing for years.

I may go against the grain here but I don't really care. If someone wants to put a camera on a stick let them have their fun.
In the grand scheme of things a stick that you put a camera on doesn't really register on the scale of things I care about :)

People look like plonkers using them but that's a good thing as it gives me amusement :D

I think they have their place, pretty cool for sports and stuff. But just videoing your ugly mug for no reason? Nah, out.

They were endemic when I went skiing last year.

Even people blatantly on their first or 2nd trip ever, filming themselves doing 5mph down the green runs. WHY!?

Seems to be the same on mountain bikes. Essential gear now seems to be, bike, helmet, helmet cam...

I've been tempted to get a GoPro for when I go skiing next year (4th week). I won't be doing 729's that will grant me global ski trick greatness but watching my friend attempt to do a 3ft jump and then land face first will have us laughing for hours (maybe more like 20 seconds).

...will come in handy for a bit of selfie defense if required.

I'd hope not with maths like that.

I do have one of these (read old ski pole) that I use when snowboarding. Saying that I only ever really take it out on the biblical days with the sole purpose of making my dad insanely jealous.

When I was in Seoul these things were everywhere. There used to be a time when if I saw someone taking a picture on their phone I wouldn't walk in front of them. Now I just assume they're taking a selfie.
