I just use a Gorilla Pod. Useful for taking videos. The top part can be detached, then you have a standard size screw mount for cameras.

I think they are ok, if you are travelling on your own it makes sense, and will come in handy for a bit of selfie defense if required.

I want to beat anyone who takes a selfie in any way

I've travelled on my own before and never felt compelled to take an arms length photo of myself :confused:

I have, however, taken a few landscapes / cityscapes. It still means I've been there but without looking like a plonker

Do people forget that this is the new age of social media? The online age has brought on a need, a requirement for photos of yourself. I meet so many people online and on my phone that ask me for photos.

I regularly take photos of myself. I'm not a narcissist, completely the opposite id wager.

because thats how things have become. the increase in non face to face communication has led to a need for identification in the form of photos. People need to see who they are talking to etc.

There's a difference between having an avatar or conference call to an instagram feed.

We are discussing the selfie, which I understood to be a self photo. Everyone seems to have a huge problem with the very concept of it, not just with the extremes we see on instagram.

I dont really do selfies and I find people who put them on fb everyday bit annoying but only the ones that do it everyday. Luckily you can block the stuff they put on there... Anyways I would like one for taking pictures with my partner when we go visit somewhere as I am paranoid and dont like to give my phone or camera to a stranger. Cant trust anyone anymore really so I think this is good idea for that sort of picture taking. Or if you travel alone and want a pic of yourself somewhere nice. But for just everyday selfie... seems a little bit pointless.
