Another thing its an outrage that those with turbans don't have to wear a helmet on a motorbike.

An outrage? Why?

Is it outrageous that people with bad backs don't have to wear a seatbelt?

No because a bad back is a physical condition which prevents wearing a seatbelt.

A Turban is arguably a mental condition otherwise known as religion, but there is nothing physical stopping the wearing of a helmet. I'm all for equality - so they should be equal and wear helmets like anyone else.

Cue deafening silence because you know I'm right ;)
What about Sikh OB?

They look better than the "breast" helmets (and they probably offer better protection!)

No - again there should be no exceptions as far as I'm concerned - except for medical or health reasons :) And of course any medical or health reason which prevented someone from wearing regular police headgear would inevitably also exclude them from being a police officer in the first place.

But, but, but that's discrimination....

No, it's the exact opposite in fact :) It is equality. What you are advocating is positive discrimination.
No, you are saying that if you have a turban, you can't joinn the OB.

Sure they can - so long as it doesn't prevent them wearing regular police uniforms and headgear. If it does, then they are asking for discrimination in their favour.

Positive discrimination is BS - you can either do the job and adhere to its rules, or you can't.

What abot the different headgear for female officers? If women can have different funnel covers why can't Sikhs?

My word we really are scraping the OMG THE COUNTRY IS GOING DOWN THE PAN barrel arent we? Not wearing a helmet is an outrage? LOL thats a good one..

Should we really be fussed if the head of some bloke explodes because he wasnt wearing a helmet when he collides with the noon Bus?

Using that logic, helmet wearing should be optional for everyone then?

Also using that logic, seatbelts should be optional yes?

Yep I agree with the logic entirely :)
What about protecting people from themselves, and protecting the taxpayer from the cost of the consequences of accidents and deaths which would have been greatly reduced by helmets and seatbelts?

Is there any evidence to show that the turban offers some sort of protection....possibly on par with the helmet? I cant help but think there is one.

Perhaps designing a helmet for sikh will be a good idea....oh wait it will look stupid and against health and safety....

Getting slighty off topic here.

I'd still like to know the O.P reasoning for stating we should sort our our own house before blaming immigrants. Surely some immigrants do cause domestic problems, shouldn't we tackle crime and have a robust immigration policy at the same time instead of tackling british only issues, then turning our attention to the immigration problem?
