Senna

Went with a friend to see the film at the Cornerhouse on Saturday. Very well put together and I can only recommend it. There were a couple of things that bothered me though

SPOILERS AHEAD (or as close as you can get to spoilers for a documentary)

1) I didn't feel comfortable with the portrayal of Prost as Balestre's partner-in-crime during the early McLaren years. However, I do realise this is how Senna would have felt at the time.
2) There was hardly a mention of the '92 Belgian Grand Prix. It would have reinforced the "theme" of the '91 season (Senna's push for improved safety features), but I guess there wasn't space left to include a segment on it.

SPOILERS FINISHED

Oh, and add my name to the "fighting tears at the funeral scenes" list.

It's called Senna - Beyond The Speed Of Sound

:D

f1fanatic.co.uk has had some articles about the film on it and it mentions the extended version several times.

Saw this last night, needed to see it before it disappeared from the cinema!
Great film, hearing that there is a longer version, could really have done with that being shown. Could have sat watching it all night.

Really liked the footage from the driver briefings, had never seen any of that before.

Can't beat onboard F1 footage on the big screen also!

managed to see it at the vue in plymouth last night.....absolutely awesome :) some great onboard footage seeing the cars twitching about...even my girlfriend who detests f1 said it was good :)

Went to see it today, was the first showing within 50 miles.

I went with my brother who is the polar opposite to me, absolutely no interest in F1, motorsport or just sport in general. Yet, he like me found the film very evocative, easily the best film I've seen of recent times.

Ron Dennis comes across very well and whilst Prost is obviously the rival and isn't depicted very well, it is nothing compared to how despicable the former FIA president Jean-Marie Balestre comes across.

I'll probably go again with some other friends soon, not very many showings though!

Looking forward to the extended Bluray, any idea on when that is out?

I saw this on Saturday night. Great film.
