Senna

****************POSSIBLE SPOILERS*****************

Well here we go, this will annoy some people i am sure...

Went to see this last night and im really glad that i saw it, but just a couple of things that i would like to say about it:

1)It didnt go into enough detail for it to be an excellent documentary, it felt a bit too wooly.

2)As a cinematic film it wasnt very good, it was trying to be a documentary

3)There just wasnt enough driver comments and interviews or indepth interviews with the likes of Ron dennis or Alain Prost now rather than stock footage from the early 90's

I could go on and on but i really dont want to pull it apart, it really was very good, it just didnt feel cinema enough, it felt almost like a trailer for a TV series, its given me the taste and i want to watch each episode unfold in depth each week.

****************POSSIBLE SPOILERS*****************

From listening to a couple of interviews with the director it's not intended to be a straight TV-style documentary in the way you expected. It's a character piece with the narration formed using footage from the moment.

Drove to Carmarthen to watch it, bloomin sold out :/

Stupid limited showings

I booked it a couple of weeks ago. There wasn't many spaces left then.

Mrs insisted on Frankie & Bennys even though I pointed out that not one meal there has been in any way acceptable. Managed to only have time for the nasty, overcooked starter and had to cancel the mains - saved me £26 so not all bad news :D

Truly amazing film. Even Mrs EddScott enjoyed it. We both cried a little bit.

^Tell me about it, we arrived in F&B at just after 7pm, my 14" Pizza arrived at 19:45. So I horsed that down as fast as possible to get to the cinema at 8pm, the gf did her best with her pizza :D

Went to watch Xmen First Class, much better than I expected.

-That reminds me, just booked for Thursday :)

If we're now posting spoilers I'll post my comments...

I didn't like the way it was bam Senna is an F1 driver. No mention of any Formula Ford or F3000, etc. Heck one of my Dad's friends, RIP, raced Senna in Formula Fords round Castle Combe a few times!

I didn't like the way that Senna was a saint and never did anything wrong. I'm not saying he was a bad bloke, far from it. It's just the film portrayed him as a saint... I think Eddie Irvine would have something to say about that!

I did like the way that all the French were evil :D. That said, isn't Prost a trustee of the Ayrton Senna Foundation...

I thought it was a bit short... though I guess Bernie would have wanted more moneys for extra footage?

They did mention him being a trustee in the credits, also it showed him as one of the pallbearers at the funeral.

I agree that it would have been nice to learn more and have more of an insight of him as a whole, but i can understand why it was done as it was.

All in all a very, very enjoyable watch.

WOW I loved every minute of SENNA, very interesting and quiet an emotional documentary imo, especially when he won the Brazilian GP. I think if you like F1 or not you will find this a good watch. Don't expect loads of racing footage either, thats not what its about. I love to see a longer version.

Just got back from seeing it. I thought it was great, would recommend it to anyone (even those not into F1). If it was on this weekend I'd go to see it again. Funny and sad too, not a single person got up and left until the credits had finished rolling. So looking forward to seeing the extended version, hope it's not long before it's out.

Watched this earlier this week. It's excellent. Very evocative, emotional drama.

The word legend is so overused nowadays but I believe that Senna definitely qualifies for that category. Formula 1 will never be the same, and probably can't ever be the same as it was in Senna's era. Safety improvements most definitely had to be made, but to see how drivers then went balls to the wall with real danger heightens one's appreciation for their skill and dedication.

Omg absolutely amazing, brought back so many memories and the start of his career which was before I can remember. Stunning and sad at the end.

Excellent film, watched it the week it came out. Very emotional film which reminded me of watching the Formula1 on a sunday with all the family. Truly an amazing driver and seemed like a great, genuine guy.

Saw this Friday night wasn't really expecting to much from it as there hadnt been much media attention on it but as is echoed above it was a brilliant film/documentary definately recommend it.

BluRay comes out 10th October

Finally managed to watch it at the cinema tonight, great film. Sad towards the end when they start to show the San Marino GP if you know the history and what's coming :(
