Cheers Ridz! And everyone who commented :) Finally going to take this leap and experience PC shiz, got s lot of research still do do but it's going to be a fun process. Yeah I'd rather take advice from you guys because all of the fanboyism everywhere! Unbiased information is valuable.

I could understand if I made a new thread in the sound city forum, sure. On a thread having a small chat really isn't a big deal. There's 13 pages of HD650 information and opinions so no shortage of 650 talk.

I'll always go to people who I feel won't exaggerate, be bias etc and will actually be helpful! I can't guarantee that in the other forums, I'm new to this and I could have .

In the audio world, I see it all the time on other forums FOTM, bias, untrained ears and parroted information and also in the console world with it's fanbois and crazy "xbots! and "Sony Ponys"(Love those terms! Haha) Something like a PC is even more dangerous for your wallet because they are so much more in depth and many different parts so surely you can understand that.

I don't even know why this is a big deal.

Nothing beats YouTube. I got called an inbred ***** a while back because I said the HD650 was better than the HE-400i....lol

I'm surprised some got a bit arsey here though, everyone is usually so chilled.

Sounds like Hype-fi 2011 and below M50 for everything. Yeah YouTube has some weird people. God forbid if you say something negative about people's M50 or M50x on YouTube.

Thinking of picking up a Modi 2 then I can stack with the Vali & Vali 2. Was going to get the Bifrost but it's massive! and I doubt it offers anything better over the Modi 2.

All of my gear has gotten smaller Haha

I share your impressions pretty much to a tee but I personally look at it in a different way.

Basically I feel the more natural sound comes from the Vali. I think the Vali doesn't really add too much to the sound apart from a minor bass weight. The 02 is like the Magni in which it is a raw, exposed aggressive sound which gives you quite a bit of energy.

They(02 and Magni) are like the Grado headphones, in that they will grab your attention, sound aggressive, exciting and will wow you more. But after a while, that sound becomes tiresome, you then crave warmth, vocal weight, relaxation.

The Vali is like the HD600, It is more mellow but can kick when it needs, it has energy but next to the more exciting sound it comes across as laid back. With the Vali you get more vocal emotion, smoothness.

Just my take on them.

Nah never! I think it's ******** lol

I've found differences between cables but it's mainly down to cable noise, poorly made cables, high resistances and all that rubbish. If I buy a cable it's purely to please my semi-materialistic tendencies.

So I'm listening to the Vali 2...

I'm trying to figure out why it's only £150. This thing sounds as good as I remember the Crack sounding. It sounds better than the Ember but isn't as powerful. it's very effortless sounding, isn't as aggressive as Schiit's other products.

I've gotta spend a good few weeks to wrap myself around this buy after a day I can say it's very very good. The guys over SuperbestAudiofriends think the Vali 2 isn't very tubey but I disagree. You can tell it's tubes but it isn't like the chinese tube amps which are a little gooey and lush. This amp is spacious, holographic and has a slight lingering quality to it that makes things a tad lush but it's very refined and the detail is great.

Back to listening :D

Yeah it's more natural sounding and has more bass presence. I think the Orignal Vali is more exciting though, a bit more aggressive. I think it's on par with the Lyr 2.

I suppose it depends it depends on how you like your vocals. Some like them in the background, some like them blended and some like them to be the focus.

I personally like the Vali's especially the Vali 2's vocal because they haunt a little bit.

Most solid state amp's just sound too lean for my liking when in comes to the human voice.

I need weight, emotion when a singer is trying seduce me not screechy little girl that sounds like a Barn Owl in breeding season(Yes I'm looking at you HD700 paired with a magni) :D

I think if anyone wants to get some emotion and depth in a human voice tubes are the way to go.

I'm pretty sure the Project Polaris uses that? could be wrong there but I really enjoyed the Polaris I thought it was among the best outside of about £1000 when it comes to tone and vocals.

I love Solid state for bass but tubes bring that sound that I adore. The funny thing is the Vali sounds almost solid state compared to the Vali 2.
