I think it will go the other way sooner or later.

At one time I remember not wishing to play any PC game that was not online. That novelty wore off eventually and now I prefer SP games with the odd exception like Worms or whatever.

Online console games is really only a relativley new thing for the majority of the players so I would expect the novelty to wear off and them wanting single player games primarily again sooner or later.

Your argument makes no sense whatsoever; how are they greedy for not producing SP content? Seems like you're just unwilling to accept their explanation.

SP games aren't going away, there's plenty of demand.

In fact I have played and will only play pretty much exclusively SP games this year.

SP = Loss of sales due to pirated games... & that is a fact in todays gaming community .... a lot of people do it.. so from a business point of view making games for online play only is the way to stop piracy & boost sales and lets be honest here if your a true gamer you will play MP Games and not SP ones, we will always get SP games but its no surprise that a lot of developers will be investing in online MP games.

We're talking connected online games like Destiny, The Division etc, not deathmatch lobbies and the like. These type of experiences do essentially shut out piracy full stop....very appealing to publishers.

There's a certain amount of AAA games that generate a huge buzz that, yes, are pretty much MP only (or only worth buying for MP). But... in the same way as "omg, there's no food with meat in any more, it's all vegan!" isn't really an accurate picture of the food industry despite the "buzz" being in a certain area, same here.

If you need people to force feed you a game and all your mates to be SUPER into something before you'll risk playing it so's not to be away from the crowd... expect the publishers doing the most marketing to also appeal to the dumbest in the crowd and to make the game with the easiest to exploit in mind. Doesn't take much for the rest to want to "keep up".
