Shamefully good emo

Bullet for My Valentine and Trivium bring the lolz. Hear my horrendously overproduced rooooaaaaaarrr!

Whilst there are some great recommendations (HWM, As Friends Rust, etc.) amongst the dross in here, a lot of them won't be any good to you. You should check a couple out, but in all honesty if you like Brand New you're more likely to find Death Cab For Cutie, Bright Eyes, Thursday, Open Hand, Jimmy Eat World, Motion City Soundtrack & Rufio much closer to the mark.

Oh, and my copy of the Polar Bear Club album arrived today. Brap.

bfmv cries in vain is good.

dont know bout emo but alexisonfire, alkaline trio, underoath, rise against are all awesome, taking back sunday bit more emo? dunno...aiden

alexisonfire - hey its your funeral mama
alexisonfire - get fighted
alkaline trio - radio
rise against - give it all
underoath - a boy brushed in red living in black and white

Nope, wasn't being deliberately ironic and I wasn't suggesting that there is anything wrong with emo music. But I obviously have a different definition of what falls under the emo category than one or two people here :)

I don't really want to debate that anymore, lets stick to suggesting some "shamefully good emo" bands :)

But Alkaline Trio are pop punk band...I fail to see anything "emo" about them. I'm just confused at why they were mentioned...

I mentioned them because somebody else did and I wanted to add a second recommendation. They are neither pop-punk nor emo in my opinion, though I can see why some people might think that they are. I would class them simply as "alternative" as they don't fit comfortably in any other category, certainly not pop-punk!

yeah, I can see why people think they're emo. some of their songs are pretty dreary, and that's what some people class as emo. I love From Here to Infirmary - really pleased with the wide variety of recommendations here - cheers :)

Everything up until Derek joined the band was pop punk. They're still a pop punk band I think. Albeit darker than most.

penski, that Minus album is ****ing solid! not what I was looking for at all, but it's a BEAST! Music to quit smoking to

I mind when Scary Kids, Scaring Kids first arrived on the scene. Their first EP was so fresh at the time.

Now it's totally not. In light of that suggestion, and I don't condone these bands or like em, but check out A Static Lullaby and Thursday.
