Shaving

Well I decided to save some money and bought some one blade disposable Bics. After one shave they all went in a bin and got more blades for my Gillette 5 blade one (can't remember the name). My workplace used to be very relaxed so despite me looking extremely overgrown by the end of the week I still only used to shave once a week.

Recently switched to a Merkur and have been using Wilky sword DE blades, as thats all I can get locally. Are other blades worth sourcing??

Connaught Shaving (Link) do a variety of blade sample packs, they will also do a custom one if there's a certain blades you want to try.

Blades are a very personal thing, it's best to try a few and see what suits you.

Yeah, but it don't last. I prefer Derby Extras, not quite as sharp, but they maintain their sharpness better throughout the shave.

I havnt got to feathers yet so not sure. as im working my way through a sample pack each blade is only doing one shave. How often do ppl find they have to change blades?

Generally a blade lasts me three shaves of 3 passes each, so i usually end up changing them once a week.

Why is it called a safety razor? Doesnt look very safe to me? I'd end up in bits getting a shave at 7am with that?

I shave my face in the shower every morning. I use a cheap razor I got from Lidl. As long as your face is moist and the razor is sharp, there's no problem.
