Shell to re-launch V-Power imminently

Business is FULL of this kind of thinking :/

I'd also put keyless start/entry and electronic handbrakes on the list of un-needed things that are inferior to what came before them and only created problems.

Rubbish, keyless entry and start is the one of the best things to have on a car.

Also, what is wrong with an electronic parking brake? I mean i could take it or leave it, but my new car is an auto with an electronic parking brake and it comes on automatically when in park and goes off when you set off in drive so it saves you having to do it. What is the issue with that?

I hope my local Shell doesn't install these electric pumps, I normally wedge the fuel cap under the handle and play with my phone until it's done :D

The issue (apart from not being able to do handbrake turns lol) is whenever you change the brakes you need diagnostic equipment to wind the cable back in and re-calibrate them. Which obviously adds labour costs and makes it harder to do yourself.

I would imagine the main benefit (to the fuel retailer) of the digital pumps is that they can use the screens to play adverts while you fill for extra revenue generation.

Yea and no one will ever see them because they will be looking at the pump dials :)

meh : /. With an auto box, I would rather have the convenience.

Not true on many cars. You can wind the caliper manually.

Keyless entry isn't secure and eats fob batteries. An e-brake has less functionality than a simple manual one (especially if you want to do handbrake turns :p). Also it's a pain when changing the brakes, adds cost/labour and is just something else to go wrong.
I changed the battery in my fob when I bought my car 3 years ago. Still on the same battery now

I too prefer an electronic handbrake, although only because the E46/E39 handbrakes are absolute cheese.

I should probably replace the shoes with aftermarket ones that are not cheese I suppose...

Same on Z4s.. mine only holds the car on the very last click! E46 based so similar issues.

Do people really stare at the dial the entire time? I don't watch it at all, just wait for the click.

Some people can't afford to fill their cars right up in one go. I can't be doing with having to go into the petrol station every other day personally, but some people prefer to just bang £20 worth in at a time or something.

Even seen it the other day with a few month old Jag. Guy only put £40 in. I mean, wtf... £40k car, cant fill it up. It was probably a 2.0 diesel though, and he didn't want the extra weight of a full tank so he could get moar empeegees though.

Dont need any special equipment, on mine its.
Ign on.
Hold accelerator and epb down.
Ign off then on within 5 seconds.
EPB now in diagnostic mode.

You can then treat them like any brakes. Love electronic parking brakes, really nice feature, great for hill starts and holds the car so much better on hills.

Perhaps the tank wasn't empty to start with?

Was just thinking, what an odd conclusion to jump to. Perhaps man who can afford £40K car, can afford it because he has the foresight to brim his tank before, say, heading off on a long journey, and has applied the same level of foresight to choosing his career path :p

Not a fan of those digital pumps, nothing wrong with the current ones we use, Change for changes sake. Always fill up with V Power it wasn't that long ago they re-branded it into V Power Nitro was it?

I'll often do a less than total fill while i am not empty, should i be passing a convenient/cheap station and have time on my side, and know that i have upcoming lengthy journeys where perhaps time will not be so forthcoming.

Probably more likely?

Could be a courtesy car or hire car so only putting so much in ;)
