Shooting at live Twitch Madden tournament - four reported to be dead

They will just stab you instead. Fewer firearm murders, but more fatal stabbings. I would rather be shot than stabbed.

A gun is a tool you can use a car or a potato to kill someone. They should ban potatoes

But they won't they'll probbaly judt punch you or scuffle a bit.

Easy access to guns, results in lots of drunken or rage induced squabbles ending in a death instead of angry words.

.they remove any fear of starting something aggressive for people.

The amount of drunk arguments or road rage that end in shootings is insane.

Just because you can't solve all problems doesnt mean you shouldn't grab the low hanging fruit

You're forgetting that 99% of those armed citizens are not even remotely trained for combat in any form whatsoever. It takes years of preparation before a soldier is ready and able to go out and kill people effectively. Untrained civilians are completely worthless against a professional army with overwhelming firepower. History bears this out.

In 1524, 300,000 German peasants took up arms and revolted against the ruling classes. They were opposed by the Swabian League, whose army consisted of just 8,000 men.

The war raged for just over a year, and the Swabian League was victorious. The peasants lost >100,000 men. Losses for the Swabian League were negligible.

Examples could be multiplied.

French revolution, Chinese revolution, Russian revolution etc...

Well that kind of blows the argument that the loners who commit shootings wouldn't be able to get guns illegally if guns were banned when he got his gun from a gang instead of legally

Just reinforces my view that banning guns won't solve any of the issues that cause these kids to lash out and kill

That's one way of looking at it, yes.

Another is that tighter legislation reduces the chance of it happening, which many consider to be a good thing.

Personally I'm in favour of not allowing folk with mental illnesses legal access to guns but I appreciate not everyone feels the same.

Assad has been doing exactly that for the past 7 years. Not only is he winning, but he still enjoys majority support.

Very different situations. In the case of the World Wars, urban combat was conducted by trained soldiers against trained soldiers. In Iraq, etc. it's a case of trained soldiers against trained soldiers, militias, and terrorists.

It's been said before, for a vast quantity of Americans shutting off the internet and closing fast food outlets would render them beyond useless. No amount of guns is going to force a clinically obese cellar dweller to take up arms to defend his liberty. They'll sing like Tweety pie at the first sign of trouble.

Looking at the USA right now they are already fully suppressed, fully pacified. They are so utterly controlled they think they are free. The government must be lolling themselves to the bank, in trumpa lumpas case, literally.

That is personal responsibility. You should not carry a firearm while drunk, just like you shouldn't drive while drunk.

You need to solve the cause of the problem in the first place, not ban everything that an insane person could possibly use to kill someone.

Ironically it's one of the freeest countries in the world.

That's what they keep telling "you". Even just yesterday Flump was talking about dealing with Google for not displaying what he thinks is the right thing to display. There are many reasons why America is not "free", they have the most laws on the planet, the largest prison population, Indefinite detention, a justice system where one person can decide where and how you are trialed, the toxic social media fake lifestyles, unregulated advertising, health insurance that refuses to pay out when they should, virtually nothing back from the massive taxes that they pay (where does it all go?) and companies that are Immune from judicial review and the near constant monitoring of citizens and backdoor entry in to IT systems.

They are free to do as they are told, the whole thing is a facade

Is this the market thats just had a load of tariffs strapped on it to force Americans to buy inferior products?

To add, anyone who thinks this is about the 2nd Amendment is making a $13.5 billion (per annum) mistake, this is only ever about money.
