My rule is:

Standard supermarket pies = hot only if I have to.
Decent pies = Hot or cold, but preferably still warm from coming out the bakers oven.

Basically, hot is better. Anyone who thinks otherwise is an idiot.

at risk of Icelandic war (fish or football) despite what S. Cowell thinks it has to be Dickinson and Morris brand for supermarket pork-pies !
(if I see these reduced at end of date they always freeze well)

I have a Pork Pie story:
On my way to work I decided to call into Brayfords, which is around 5 miles from home, for one of their amazing Pork Pies.
I get to work and 1 hour later I get a text off my wife saying "Hope you enjoyed your Pork pie".
WTF? - she works 5 miles in the other direction.

Apparently a woman she works with called in on her way to work and thought she recognised me. "Has he got scratches all down the back of his leg and a big bruise on his right leg?"
"Yeah, one was a cycle accident last week and one was last night when he rode into a lamppost" :D

When I was working and had to go to Chester I went through Wem and they had a small butcher in high street. They made best pork pies ever and at 8.30 in morning they were still hot and they were out of this world especially with brown sauce.

Cold pies are hard.

Those were the days and the butchers closed down years ago. :(:(
