Shop bought pork pies - hot or cold?

Somebody bumped this again, but I just have to comment on this abomination. People who like warm pork pies should be shot.

My Mother puts sausage rolls in the fridge. Drives me mental.

They can go in the fridge as long as you warm them up.

Mind you I've just got back from the Swinnerton Arms where I had fish & chips and people were laughing at me putting dollops of tomato sauce all over my fish, I thought that was normal.

just room temperature though ... can you ever restore that post just cooked pastry/sausage taste otherwise. ...
but , that more or less means, they must be home-made, or, you have a local bakery(or some pork butchers) otherwise.

If its a poor quality sausage roll then maybe eating cold is better ... like some beers ... coca-cola ?

Little butchers in black rod, near Bolton, still makes his own - his old mum cooks them upstairs!

Get there while they're still warm from the oven and it's godly. Not as good reheated.

Got a name of the butchers? Not that there's much in Blackrod but i don't venture there much to know it well.

How can you eat a pork pie 'warm from the oven', that is when they add the stock that sets to become jelly as it cools :confused::confused:

I find pork pies cheap and nasty and the jelly? Yuk!

The only ones I can eat are the mini Melton Mowbray ones, preferably the one with the cheese, and always cold

If you're ever up north near Skipton you should try one warm from Stanforths butchers. Lishman's butchers in Ilkley are nearly as good and Middlemiss butchers in Otley are also excellent but I prefer theirs cold. Reheating is only acceptable if you're eating it with mushy peas and mint sauce.
