Again how's it ridiculous? Are you denying that ownership of expensive items is often seen as a measure of success?

People measure success entirely differently. Just because you have “multiple premium cars” doesn’t mean that’s success. My best friend earns over double my salary. Is he more successful? He owns a VW, I own a Mercedes. Who’s more successful now? He has a four bedroom house. I have a four bedroom house and a two bedroom flat. He has been to 3 countries in his life. I’ve been to over 50. I own more ties than him. I socialise more than him. He’s closer to his family than I am to mine. He can run faster than me. I can run further than him.
Material items, or pretty much any measure, is just a silly thing to measure success on. It’s a pretty personal achievement and we shouldn’t use our measures of success to put other people down.
