Shorts and no tie at a wedding?

People measure success entirely differently. Just because you have “multiple premium cars” doesn’t mean that’s success. My best friend earns over double my salary. Is he more successful? He owns a VW, I own a Mercedes. Who’s more successful now? He has a four bedroom house. I have a four bedroom house and a two bedroom flat. He has been to 3 countries in his life. I’ve been to over 50. I own more ties than him. I socialise more than him. He’s closer to his family than I am to mine. He can run faster than me. I can run further than him.

Material items, or pretty much any measure, is just a silly thing to measure success on. It’s a pretty personal achievement and we shouldn’t use our measures of success to put other people down.

Which, if you'd bothered to read, you would note I point out success is measured in multiple ways, that being just one example by which people measure success.

Can you not have a conversation without snide comments?

It’s how you measure success, which is fine. There’s nothing wrong with it. But all I’m saying is don’t use your measures to belittle others.

It screams of insecurity to me, which doesn’t collate with success IMO.

Fair point, but we're talking about a guy who started a whole thread (maybe culture?) about his quest to get to £50k, so it's fair to assume money is at least in part a measure of his own success/failure.

Our go to guy is Gil Grissom of CSI; Vegas, often we’ll be watching “Law and Order; Special Victims Unit”, and one of the detectives will say to a pathologist, “No blood, no fluids, no prints, no DNA, this one will be tough.”
My wife will say, “I’ll bet Grissom would figure it out.”

A good suit makes anypne look good. i used to work in an office where the dress code was just smart/casual and sometimes I'd rock up in a suit. a good suit, a good fitting suit. apart from the comedians with their 'interview' and 'court' comments, everything else was very positive. How smart, how good it looked.

A good suit, properly fitting shirt and tie is never restricting, itis very comfortable and timeless.

if you feel as though you're trussed up in a suit and shirt then they are the wrong size.

You're a lovely person, aren't you? As someone else said, you could be Psycho Sonny in disguise. You have the same high opinion of yourself, and a belief that you can mock others righteously from your perch atop success mountain.

Btw the context of the 50k thread wasn't a desire for money (you can double check if you care enough). The context was not wanting to be a renter and pay some douchebag London landlord 75% of my income just to put a roof over my head. Which is what you have to do below a certain earnings threshold.

I absolutely will not pay somebody else's mortgage for them.

Kinda sounds like you're mocking landlords TBH, but maybe going down that avenue will create another 50k thread which no one needs.
