Shotguns: Show us your clay / game / zombie bashers

Had a good play with the 410 yesterday, it's fun! It's like shooting with a pencil instead of a hammer, definitely break them tho, if you put it in the right place. I was pleasantly surprised!
I'm hunting for a suppressed .410 - likely single shot, but possibly other actions. Shot one a couple of years back at a clay ground and it was a real delight!

Nice! What's on your FAC, and what's the shopping list?

Not shot a 410 yet.

Got approved for the following:

6.5 Creedmore rifle
.223 rifle
.357 rifle
.308 rifle
2x .22 rifles
.22 Long barrel pistol
Then of course the SGC

Ruger precision rifle in .308 and a Smith & Wesson 15-22 are first on the list, just long waiting lists for both. Henry big boy 357 under leaver after them.

Is all of that for targets? How did you get so much calibre opened on your first ticket? Here I'm asking around and people tell me I need to get .17, THEN ask .223, then perhaps a deer calibre liek .308. Ultimately, I'd like to go stalking obviously...

The Mossberg pump looks very nice. I loosely looked for one of these, but I wasn't sure it'd be very quiet (and how quiet) -- mind you never shot one either. The pump still allows a light gun and repeat shooting; the pure single barrels gets old quite quickly :-)

*But* it's quite long... My little russian is 27" barrels with 14 stock, so it's fairly short.

All for targets, my club has 25,35 and 100m ranges and then I will be going up to Bisley for long range and possibly elsewhere for practical 3 gun but not sure yet, if so I would eventually do a variation for FAC shotgun.

edit* Going back to your post as long as your cabinet is big enough and you feel like you can justify a reason why not put it on there? They can only say no and remove it and it will not hurt your application.

Anyone off to the Northern shooting show in Harrogate this weekend ?

I will be looking around (possibly entering the target sprint competition) on the Saturday and manning the East Midlands Range stand on the Sunday. What day are you down?

Shame for the Southerners - You are missing out on the best gun show!

Just say if you guys would prefer to keep this strictly SGC shotgun, don't think there would be enough people for an FAC thread though.

Just got this today (.22LR GSG 1911) for anyone that may not know, the half coat hanger is to abide by UK FAC section 1 and the moderator is just a cover for the long barrel which it has too. Forgetting those bits it's great fun to shoot.

How does it shoot? I have a Taurus .357 myself - looks goofy as hell but is my second fav pistol I have ever shot (including many I have shot in other countries)!

Have been weighing up whether I want an Alpha Project .357 revolver as it seems a good work around for those who cannot stand the coat hanger solution. Had a look at the Northern shooting show and never realised that each cylinder actually takes a slot up on your certificate!

Speaking of which the Northern shooting show was great - almost bought a Ruger Gunsight Scout but managed to control myself!

Really depends what you're expecting to get out of it. I got it for mainly practical plate shooting but it outshoots me at 25m gallery. They are very reliable and well built for the money. Obviously your Taurus in 357 is going to be accurate on paper target shooting. Me personally I would rather a .22 lbp for practical and use my .357 slot for lever action gallery shooting.

That's nice - I have always wanted a 1911 semi auto pistol since I was a kid but it never happened and never will now.

Had a call tonight from a mate who tells me we have a group shoot at Mid Wales on Saturday - we will be doing the sporting first then DTL -Skeet and whatever else is on offer - so I will be there most of the day - So was wondering if anyone else will be there look out for me - Small old git with UK flag emblem on my shooting vest along with "I am 70 today" badge. - also use a Beretta semi.

Dave is the name - also on my vest. :D

@DXP55 sucks! I was there this week-end, spent most of saturday there as well! Unfortunately not *this* coming week-end :/ -- there was a stag do last saturday, a whole gang of like 40 from abbeycwmhir. Luckily they were fairly well behaved. We shot a whole slab with the 410 too, and did sim-pairs and so on. Heaps of fun!

Make sure to have a go at the 'extreme teal'. Bugger is pretty awesome :) Really like the 'dropping ducks' sim pair too, fun...

... DONT take your credit card if you visit the gun room, Jon has some absolute stonkers in there, and a couple bargains too. I didn't tell you that :)

Edit: Oh, and happy bday ;-)

For sure the Taurus is not a speed gun, but gives me a serious grin everytime I shoot it! I do not think there is a FEO out there that would deny you having a .357 LBR and .357 gallery gun so do not let that stop you (waiting on Marlin to reintroduce the 1895 sbr in .357 next year to fill that slot :D)

Also I keep meaning to get into practical as the dynamic stuff is pretty boring in which case I could see myself eyeing up a 1911 or k-22.

Buserror

The days of buying guns is now long gone - I can only shoot one at time - My 5 gun cabinet once had ten in it -nose to tail - All semi auto Winchester X1's

Have you shot the air ambulance stand at Dovey Valley if it's still on - that is a "Test Teal" most I got was 8 x 10 and that was a long time ago.

We go about two or three times a year to MWSG and the other lads go on to Dovey for the Sunday.

Thanks but that badge was from three years ago and it's in March - I keep hoping a shooting ground will give me a slab as a present - Some hope

One day we may meet up.

Haven't read the thread, but is anyone with shotguns/that does shooting based in North Yorkshire?

Had a day at Mid Wales today for some sporting shooting - They have opened up two more fields for a 100 bird shoot tomorrow and to say I was knackered after walking to far end is a understatement - They should lay on transport - Also after shooting it I have to say it was the hardest shoot I have ever shot (or I am to old to do it now) Nothing out of range but angle and speed did me in - the best shooter in our group hit 71 - I was way down on that - Unfortunately for me they had a DTL comp on so never got to do any and only two on our group wanted to do skeet so gave it a miss and went home.

Bit disappointed really and wished I had not gone but go to Kingsley Moor tomorrow - Oh well perhaps next time.

If the lady doing the cooking and serving had been a cat I would have taken her home with me :):)

Don't listen to those people, they only say that because they went about things the wrong way and it makes them feel like they're better or more advanced than you. Stupid. If you have the 'good reason' and meet the other requirements, then just apply for whichever calibres you want from the start. Deer stalking is actually one of the easiest routes into being granted a FAC, so if you need a .308, apply for a 308 and they'll have to grant it.
