Getting back on topic it's an easy fix..*

Leave all threads, they will die of natural causes when better threads are developed.

Developing better threads: why not make them weekly..

Post your picture week 6 - 03/02/2013.. Post pictures you made that week in that thread. They don't need to be taken that week...but it's a thread that we can then all use to look back on our progression etc.
It will also prevent threads becoming 500 pages long... Which can be off putting to people who are browsing..

Rather than creating threads purely for critique purposes.. Just ask for people's opinion within the weekly thread...although I stand by my earlier comment. Critiquing is an arbitrary exercise on an Internet forum... Join a photography club or book a coarse with a photographer that influences you, meet people and develop your skills that way.

Photography is a journey of self discovery. I love it when I'm shooting video or photos and when I look through the viewfinder and start to see my images develop.. My heart starts to race and I'm in the zone. I love sharing my photographs because I'm proud of what I have achieved... having others appreciate your work is encouraging and inspiring.. but fundamentally, my greatest buzz is from actually shooting. I love it...

Ive found that my biggest leaps come when I stop caring so much about photo tech and start working with and truly understanding the gear I already own.

I really enjoy the Learning part of any new hobby, almost as much as the actual doing part :D

There was a floodlit local rugby match going outside last night so on the spur of the moment I decided to pop over and take a few pictures, only I've never done that sort of photography before with 30+ people basically having a fight at night and under flood lights so everything I took was pretty poor (mainly crap composition and slow shutter) but by the last 10 minutes I'd started to get the hang of it and my pictures were slowly improving (although still poor :D).

After the match I then spent the next few hours scouring the web for tips/hints to see what I could've done better and looking at other photog's pics to see what they were doing for composition etc and that, for me, was as enjoyable as the hour and a half a spent actually taking pics.

^^^ That thread reads like Jokester and gone through every photo I have posted with the watermark and deleted it.

I wonder if he has done the same with other people who also posted a watermark that is not their name.

Off the back of my mind, the 500px thread suggests not.

I was rather enjoying that thread, but annoyingly can't read your replies, so the track of the thread and good advice was lost.

Also, notice from that thread how few people post anymore. What happened to 33L? Even their flickr hasn't had a photo in a year

Whatever it is that gets you there, use it.. It all helps you develop your skills...I hope you go back and use the tips you discovered on the net and put it to practice. Again, self discovery... No better way of learning than applying the information you have been given. You start to cross the T's and dot the I's and things start to make sense.. Keep shooting!! ;)

I actually gasp if I see a photo I like on the LCD.

Love that feeling.

That's exactly how I get Raymond. I think my excitement has a very positive effect because my models start to relax and become more expressive, they start to trust me and lose their inhibitions allowing me to capture more of their character..
