Should Wenger go? (Spoilers!)

I think Wenger is one of the greatest managers of the modern game.

However there is very little i can say in defence of what is crumbling around his ears.

Arsenal would have had to improve 100% to be an embarassment today.

Hearts only lost 5-0 to Spurs.
 
Glad I didn't renew my red membership. Not going to watch that shower.

dannyjo22 you're talking rubbish. It's been said by the board for the past 3 or 4 seasons that Wenger has had q least £40m to spend regardless of the stadium debt and he's been oblivious to the state of the squad. All of our debt is long term and mnageable.

Also your point about Wenger not wanting the stadium is tosh. He was at the forefront of designing almost every playing aspect of it!

You lot need to get in your heads how much money needs to be spent to keep you competing for titles and realise you don't have it other than a big splurge for one season. You cannot afford the wages that teams like city, chelsea and united have moved onto.

Your only hope is 4th, either you or Liverpool.

No manager is going to change that without the finances. Yet some idiotic fans what to bust your club.

The money from the flats is all but gone. You will sack wenger and bring in a manager throw money at him and realise your mistake.

I agree that Wenger has been a great manager for Arsenal, and just keep us together and competitive on little money where other managers would have failed.

But for the last 3-4 years he is blind to glaring issues in the team.

Im not saying sack him, but at liverpool they brought in a manager that returned them to old ways, fixed the glaring issues in the team/squad and took it from there.

Why has weneger been blind for the last few years?
 
Who can they get in that will be better? and why would they get money to spend if he hasn't?

Whoever you get in has to make do with what you got for 6 months. Who knows where you'll be by January.

Anyone who can realize this teams need a change.

Steve mclaren could do a better job then Wenger. Only a blind fool would still back wenger

I think we are witnessing the demise of Wenger :(

Also its sad to see the premiership being a manchester 2 horse race (maybe liverpool but not really)

The short term memory some of you arsenal fans seem to have is surprising. I remember very well his opposition to the debt he would be saddled with.

He has but felt it wasn't required and to be fair he hasn't been a million miles off the title for most seasons.

Fans in the most part seem to think if he got given 40 million for last year and didn't spend it he has 40 million this year plus last seasons fund.

That's BS, they use it on the debt. Which is how Arsenal have managed to keep the finances under control because by good fortune you don't have a manager to buy Jageilka for 18m and give him £100k per week.

If your team is having it's best players poached and Wenger brought them to the club you have to see he's doing something right otherwise these teams would magic up their own superstars or not come knocking at Arsenal.
 
He used to do it right not anymore.

His recent signings have been pretty dire

jenkinson

they are all poor squad players none of them will be poached in 3 years time when arsene has made them superstars.

merson had it bang on since david dein stepped down our transfer dealings have been shocking
 
More than anything, Arsenal need to get that physical defensive cohesion back.

Lose abit of the flair, get back to basics.

Make us hard to beat and break down, and counter teams with Vanpersi, walcott etc.....

Infact, the first League win under Wenger was using this strategy.

We had Seaman, Adams, Bould winterburn and Dixon defence, Viera, petite all providing the screen and frame of the team, the rest was just counter attacking the opposition with lightning quick passes and pace.

(Oh and yea, we did have Bergkamp as well)

We need to go back to this!

I also get frustrated with Wenger when he plays players out of position continuously.

This I think is what the problem is with Arshavin.

Who would you replace him with? The man needs money to spend, even as a United fan I think nobody could fix Arsenal at the moment, the problems go deeper than the squad/manager.
