Should Wenger go? (Spoilers!)

We needed to get rid of pat rice, and bring some one in who would be like

"Mate, wtf are you thinking signing Squillaci"?

Yup. Nail head. I think Wenger is a good manager when he has someone there to challenge him which Pat Rice just isn't doing.

Promote Liam Brady and Steve Bould. Hire Martin Keown back as defensive coach and see if Dennis is bored at Ajax. Try and convince Dein to go back on the board now that Nina and Danny are gone.

Oh and get the groundsman back from Madrid. Maybe shrink the pitch back down to Highbury size.

Go. I think a different manager could get more out of the same players, there's no excuse for consistently playing people out of position and then seeing them under perform or playing people who under perform or are a liability all the time and not benching them, and there's really no excuse for ignoring the way the team defend, doing nothing to fix it, and then buying 17 year old wingers. I haven't even seen them play pretty football for ages either, there's no confidence any more.

Everyone knew Gibbs would get injured straight away, he's not ready to play week-in and week-out with his glass legs, and someone like Enrique was available to buy and a decent shout. He sticks with Gibbs who - surprise surprise - gets injured, has a dire understudy in Traore who was probably worse today than Jenkinson, which is saying something, and then Liverpool buy him and he plays great against us.

He probably won't bring anyone decent in by Weds. We could lose up to 5 (IIRC) players to the ACoN. The squad is already thin, injured constantly and with young players displaying an obvious gaping hole where experience and discipline go, at this rate they'll be relying on the reserve squad to fill positions. Not to mention we definitely won't finish top 4, and with some of the only decent players we have having only 1 year on their contracts left at the end of the year, there's a v. high chance we could end up a fallen giant, unable to challenge for silverware for many years to come.

sorry but the bucket stops with wenger. Yes we dont know what is going on behind the scenes but your telling me wenger is not to blame at all?

What about when Arsenal play teh wrong tactics and squad line up. is that the boards fault? no its wenger. Like today. As Gary neville and merson rightly said, you have like 8 players injured/suspended and lost two of your best players, why in hell are you playing open attacking football at old trafford?

Many managers would have sence and just try and play for the draw. Sometimes you need a plan B and you need to play for a draw.

Cant blame the board. thats all done to wenger mate. So to say wenger should stay is ludacrous. i think the reason why some want him to stay is so there own club can smack us 8:2.

Go.

Arsenal's transfer activity has been shocking - they knew that fabregas (and likely nasri) would be off this summer but they still haven't signed replacements for them! They've been weak in defence for years and still haven't sorted it out. And their team has 0 leaders in it.

If they sacked Arsene I think that would be the death of the football club. Theres no proof that much funds are actually availible to him, today was a bad result but I'm sure he will come good and hopefully sign two centre backs.

merson had it bang on since david dein stepped down our transfer dealings have been shocking

Bingo, so If Dein dealt with transfer dealings before who do you think deals with them now. Arsene?

No chance, he's probably just as frustrated when he says he wants Cahill, Jag etc and the board don't offer enough.

You have money to give to everton for example to buy a player for 20 million. Hell you can probably buy 2 or 3 at that price per year. You don't though have the money to pay the wages these top players require to go to your club instead of Manu, Chelsea or City. That's the difference Arsenal fans don't seem to understand.

Who would you replace him with? The man needs money to spend, even as a United fan I think nobody could fix Arsenal at the moment, the problems go deeper than the squad/manager.

Exactly none of the big managers will go there when they realise they cannot compete on wages for players. They will get Mark Hughes as he will be cheap and do as he's told.

Wages and transfer fees have moved on to such an extent they can no longer compete. I mean look at the prices being paid for players with one year left. That would never have happened in the past. Clubs would take 5 million and be happy for a return.

And this is why City (started with Chelsea are ruining the game.

Fifa will try to implement the fair rules policy but city have already indicated they will work around it. (Nameing their stadium to Etihad makes 400mill £ available to them as 'income')

I remeber Arsena Wenger in 1999 predicting that the Arsenal youngster would dominate the Prem for the next 10 years. This was becuase he had put so many resources and time in to our youth system we had some many great youth players coming through.

Then what I called the '9/11' of the premiership happened. Abramovitch came with all his billions and tore up the rule book. Chelsea didnt need to invest time and effore in youth, they could just buy it.

And so the story goes, now culminating in city literally have endless cash.

They WILL win the league and the Champions league eventually.

They will buy it. Signin Aguero was a sing that top top quality (quality that can play for Barca) will sign for City.

How does this have anything to do with the Arsenal situation? Well, Cesc and Nasri left becasue teams with more cash are paying higher wages, attracting bigger better players and winning the trophies, leading to the Arsenal crisis.

The situation is crazy at the moment, it's not *just* three games into the season, this has been building for years. I think every single season since 2005 we've been saying next year is our year, next year is our year but it never happens. We came close to winning the title I think it was 2006 and ever since then we've been a shadow of our former selves.

Looking at the teams today the interesting stat was they both had an average age of 22, Man Utd have gone about it exactly the right way, you keep your spine of experienced players and you supplement them with youngsters who can grow into a starting place and who can learn off the old, wise heads. The way we have been doing it for the past 5 or 6 years in absolutely NOT the way to do it, sell your best players, don't replace them with equal quality, sign 15 year olds who might be good someday, possibly, maybe, it's pathetic. Sure Fergie has overspent in my opinion on a couple of his summer signings but to get players who are proven in this league you have to spend over the odds. Wenger needs somebody to tell him straight, our policy isn't working, if anything we're just becoming a feeder club for other clubs around us which considering we're Arsenal Football Club is a ridiculous position to be in.

On the pitch today we should have had the likes of Henry, Ljungberg, Vieira, Gallas, they could have been the spine and while they may be past it in terms of physicality they are still very much with it mentally, only then do you add some youngsters around them. Who are our players learning off exactly? Who is Gibbs learning from? Who are our central midfielders learning from now that Fabregas is gone? Who are our defenders learning from because whoever it is they need to be shot. The way the back four defended today was absolutely shocking to say the least. How many times did Djourou leave Jenkinson in no mans land with his ridiculous attempts to play the offside trap? Also how many times was Jenkinson up at the Man Utd corner flag, he's a ****ing right back, stay in your position, show a bit of defensive discipline.

We could talk about the negative points of today's game forever, and it isn't just todays result which has annoyed so many of us, it's the results for the past 5 years, we've given Wenger ridiculous amounts of patience and even though he has done some very good work for us in the past, it was exactly that... in the past and we need to move on with ourselves. Our rivals aren't living in 2003/2004 anymore and neither should we be.

We DESPERATELY need to switch tactics, this tippy tappy rubbish just isn't working, I'm not saying let's go all Big Sam or anything but seriously, sometimes someone just needs to hit a long ball, sometimes somebody just needs to hoof it out of our box instead of making a tappy little 5 yard pass, sometimes players just need to man the **** up, take some responsibility and step up to the plate, but how are they meant to do that when they've got nobody to learn off apart from other 19 year olds and day after day they're being trained by Wenger who has clearly completely lost the plot.

I said I'd give him until the end of the season, at this rate we'll be languishing in the relegation zone, we've become an absolute joke and the rest of the league is laughing at us. We need a completely new core to the side, we need to add some experienced heads, we need to alter our system to make the best use of our players, in no world is RVP a lone striker and in no world should Walcott be played out wide where he's useless. The thing is it's become clear that Wenger needs someone to line up some transfer targets for him because we're crying out for defensive and central additions to the squad and he's off signing another 5 striker wingers.

Something needs to be done urgently and I'm fast losing my patience with the man, like I said he's done some amazing things for the club, things that the fans will be eternally grateful for, but that was in the past and this is the present.
