Hi fragster999,

Looking good for a first go at cable mgmt - and there's nowt boring about the Fortress!:D

Have you tried putting the GPU power cables around the side so they come in from the right on your first pic? You could cable tie them to the upright for the HDD cage that you've removed and that way there'd be a lot less of the wiring showing and less 'clutter' by the GPU's fans.

It gets kinda addictive hiding cabling out of the way - I've just done a rig for my missus and spent longer thinking about where and how to hide everything than actually doing it...

Anyway, congrats on a good job :)

just bit the bullet and ordered the fortress :D

I'll be doing that when I finally get round to my i7 build. I just love the look of the case!

A question though...... I'm using an Antec 300 at the moment, and the cooling it provides with 2000rpm Sharkoons at the front on a fan controller is exceptional.

When I move to the Fortress, will I see similar cooling or worse? I love the look of the case but it's a little hard to justify the extra £90 if the cooling isn't actually as good as what I have currently.

i doubt your going to see a huge difference, no need to upgrade if you dont need to, not just on looks.

Yep I wouldn't do just for the sake of it, but as I'll be replacing Mobo, CPU and RAM I'll be left with a useable Core2 computer with no case so i might as well leave the Antec for the Core2 system and get myself a shiny new Fortress for my i7.

Good to hear there shouldn't be a large drop in cooling though.

He said he has 2000rpm sharkoons at the front - since it comes with the 120mm and 140mm exhaust fans I'd suggest he has all the fans installed with the possible exception of the side fan.

2000rpm shark's are probably producing positive air pressure if that 140mm is at anything less than full whack

Yep that's right, I've got them all installed plus a Xilence on the side. Using a Scythe Controller for them though so it's rare they're running full whack.

I imagine the difference I'll see is negligible and probably similar while being a lot quieter.......plus it's so pretty! Can't wait til I've got the cash together.

I went from an Antec 300 to the Fortress and can say that the cooling is about the same despite not having the side fan - the positive pressure seems to make up for that lack. I have however put in a second front fan in the 5.25" bays using a Lian-Li grille panel, others have used the Kama Bay which is possibly an easier fit!

The cable mgmt of the Fortress also allows for very good clean airflow which has to help things too.

Looking forward to seeing pics of your build, and welcome to the club!:D
